Navdeep, The new corals are very nice. Where did you acquire your newest corals from, particularly the leather corals?

I read the same thing, but there isn't any definitive research. Your tank is going to cycle just fine and will be just fine using MicroBacter 7. No need to waste money buying other bacterial additives that may or may not help. Save your money for fish and corals.

I would just dose your MicroBacter 7 and let your tank cycle. By not adding any live sand or live rock from another tank you prevent any unwanted hitchhikers, pests, etc. from being introduced into your tank.

    10g led lighting advice needed

I don't know. I never asked Nick. The spectrum that I got was designed by Jake from reefbuilders.com for his personal aquarium. Nick told me I would like the spectrum. I guess we will see.

    10g led lighting advice needed

I placed my order today with buildmyled.com I spoke with Nick, the owner, and he guided me on a custom build that was used by Jake from reefbuilders.com. I was glad that he gave me the time and help I needed. I am getting an 18" fixture with a manual dimmer switch. I was told that visually...

Many of the larger rimless tanks I've seen that keep the light from spilling outside the tank too badly use led strip lights. Plus, you can also customize the strip lights by selecting the appropriate beam angle. That is what I plan on doing with my rimless. Purchasing a buildmyled.com strip...

The diatoms are finally starting to go away. :) All inhabitants seems to be doing well and are healthy. My zoas and paly are growing. I see lots of new heads. I'm waiting to acquire various corals before I really start to attach them to the rocks. I've read so many stories about people's...

Is the green on the rocks algae?

Hi Everyone, I'm starting to get small spots of green appearing on my rocks. Is this an algae, if it is an algae is it a good or bad kind? I've read that a newly setup tank will go through various stages of algae. Is this what is happening in my tank. -Sam

    10g led lighting advice needed

Hi Everyone, My 10g office tank currently has a 36w Coralife power compact 50/50 bulb which sadly does not make any of my corals show their beautiful colors. The corals seem happy and healthy and are growing, but their colors are bland...

    Sam's 10g work tank

I have been wanting to add some movement to my tank for a while now and have been really wanting a frogspawn. Mike (Coral reefer) had generously offered me a frag, but I wasn't sure when I was going to be able to pickup from SF. I was at Neptune Aquatics today and saw they had the really...

    Sam's 10g work tank

Haha!!! I'm glad I don't have some unwanted pests. Should I leave the snail eggs? Are they food for the fish?

    Sam's 10g work tank

The tank has been doing well. The fish and corals seem to be healthy and happy. I've been taking it slow and haven't added anything new just to make sure everything is stable. My tank still has a lot of diatoms and I'm not sure why. I can't tell whether it is getting better yet. I'm sure...
