    DBTC: Tyree Elegance Coral

Sorry, I don’t want to derail this. I have a big elegance I would like to frag. Could someone with experience possibly message me with advice and review some pictures? I’ve had it a couple years at this point(not this elegance)

    SCTLD might have a solution

Only through antibiotics or hope corals build a resistance(a stretch). I have read multiple different dosages. I can tell you that two separate treatments at .125mg/l and .4mg/l 3x over six days each was ineffective. I’ve heard mixed reports of going as high as 1.25mg/l. I am not sold on...

    SCTLD might have a solution

I am happy to identify why this particular tank is struggling so much. Sucks… but at least I have an answer. Which is rare in this hobby.

Welcome to Gran Playa Del Mar

I hear ya, but I’ve been struggling with this frag tank for a few years. I’m just going to let this all run its course. Originally I was going to dose amoxi but now I’ve kinda hit my limit with it. Hopefully things start thriving and become resistant to it.

Welcome to Gran Playa Del Mar

Ohh agreed with that. It is one of I think 6 bacteria associated with the pathogen but that’s all I’ve ever found. I am recalling the “6” off the top of my head, so that would need to be fact checked.

Welcome to Gran Playa Del Mar

Scientists found it a couple years ago and they developed an amoxicillin paste that they applied to stony coral in the Caribbean. I’ve been following it for a long time cause I suspected that’s where my issues were stemming from. In tank doses of cipro for 6 days at .125 mg/l and .4mg/l did not...

Welcome to Gran Playa Del Mar

Well I guess you can finally get near the frag tank. I’m pretty sure it came from you anyway :p Weirdly, it hasn’t shown up in the big tank yet.

    Skimmer performance

It’s the 900, and when it is working properly that’s where my water level sits as well. The last three days the foam head is almost completely flat and the water level is 2/3rds the way up the cup. It will stay that way typically till I pull it all apart and reassemble. I raised the water...

    Skimmer performance

Any aggression is inferred… There were no exclamation points. Just not sure what short of someone else confirming the amount of normal skimmate I produce, which isn’t relevant, that I can do. Naturally leaves the only option as “you’re welcome to confirm it since your questioning it”. Im not...

    Skimmer performance

Would you like to swing by and measure it? I fail to see the relevance to the question I posed.

    Skimmer performance

Yea, typically. The frag tank is much less daily, but the bioload is also 1/10th of the big tank.

    Skimmer performance

I’ll post the frag tank skimmer when I get home to show you what is should look like. Won’t be for a few hours.

    Skimmer performance

When the skimmer is working properly I pull about a half gallon of skimmate a day from the heavy bioload.

    Skimmer performance

I hear what you are saying. However, I’ve been watching this for two months at this point. I have two skimmers, both Red Sea. The Frag tank and display tank are ten feet apart. This bubble interface happens and the skimmer won’t produce skimmate until I take the skimmer out and clean all the...

    Skimmer performance

There are two “layers” where the top is milky white and the bottom has a grey tint. Then this happens my skimmer stops producing skimmate for days.

    I’ll try cleaning it again.
