Fritz turbo start is great. The tank was processing ammonia almost immediately after adding it to the tank. Allegedly you can add fish immediately, but I wasn’t quite ready for that. But I am impressed with how well the tank is handling Nitrates already.

Hmmm. The Mag 24 could work actually. It’s a submersible pump, right? I’m not sure I’m ready to switch to an external pump right now, although they do seem to have some good performance.

I’m getting between 270 and 280 gph with that pump. The sump is in my garage. Probably 6 feet lower than the return line, 1 90 degree bend, 4 45 degree bends, and about 9 feet horizontally. 1 inch return line.

I installed my flow sensor this afternoon. I thought my pump flow was a little on the low side, and I think I’ve now confirmed it. My return flow is around 270 GPH. Total system volume is probably around 130 gallons or so, maybe closer to 145.

I haven’t seen anything slimy yet, which is what makes me think they’re old shells.

Isn’t ick more likely to show up on the body rather than the fins?

They might actually be old tubes from the person who used the rocks before me. I’m looking at lot closer at them now then I had been before.

My first fish have arrived! 5 Lyretail Anthias. 4 smaller females and 1 larger female that is transforming. Currently at LTK in QT.

I’m hoping it’s just the dead tubes and not something I’ve picked up already. Maybe I just hadn’t noticed before.
