    Alex’s IM 150 EXT

Latest ICP Results (new design of the report, but not a significant improvement in my opinion): Observations: The good - Finally able to reduce Nitrates below 10 mg/l, which took several months to get there (the 11 days shipping reduced it further so it was a bit higher than what it is...

    65 gallon tank

I would always test Nitrates in combination with Phosphate and decide next steps based on the combined results. Water changes are an effective way to reduce nitrate (and phosphate) - and reduced feeding. Carbon dosing for combined nitrate and phosphate reductions is my preference as the other...

    BOLUS vs. Kalkwasser

I really liked the content of this. Doug is so much better than Claude to present in front of an English speaking audience (which is the main reason why I did not pursue the Claude Zoom call for now), and he comes close to Claude when Claude does the German speaking videos. I always thought...

    Ph probe accuracy

Should not take more than 30 minutes. ORP probes take several hours for me in some cases to stabilize but not PH probes.

    Dealing with hair algae

I have a refugium, and I am not sure if I like it. The algae might release coral growth inhibitors into the water column, increasing DOC (if that is a thing, or lowering ORP), and in return, you get some nutrient reduction. You should not have nutrient issues if you have a lot of grown corals in...

    Dealing with hair algae

Did you dose Kalkwasser in this tank?

    No water charges?

It is a bit like referring to 90-year-olds who smoked all of their lives. Can you run your tank without water changes, and ongoing trace supplementation etc - probably in some instances, but should you? I also wonder if you really save time (and money) by not doing it. Higher livestock death...

    Ph probe accuracy

I try to screw the cap open. This typically works and I had the same issue on some of the probes possibly due to the storage liquid. I have Milwaukee probes on all of my devices - Apex and Hydros, and I also have the Milwaukee controller, as well as the Milwaukee MW102 PRO+ which Meckley...

New delivery of Tropic Marin salt arrived

Did you also get Fauna Marin salt again?

    No water charges?

Water changes are essential for a successful tank IMO. The frequency is debatable. I do 10%+ weekly. The objective is to remove unwanted stuff. Nothing more, nothing less. Not doing them works perfectly fine until it does not.

Nori feeder… what do you use?

Lot’s of traffic in front of this thing every day, so I thought this could be eased up a bit by a bigger one. Btw, I think it will only fit three sheets, tried earlier again. Not sure if the larger one can fit more.

Nori feeder… what do you use?

Its the medium size, but Iam thinking of buying the large. I do not think he is big with individual discounts or cares about referrals tbh. However, there is a discount code everyone can use which is ‘humble’, which gives a 10% discount.

Nori feeder… what do you use?

One black screw at the bottom. You need to slide it in. I use two pieces at the time but it looks like it can fit 3-4 pieces. Have not tried more than two though.

Distilled vs Deionized Water - Refractometer Calibration

Not technically a reef chemistry question but related. I am no longer using my RODI water for calibrating my Milwaukee refractometer due to concerns that it might not provide the correct 0 value in the calibration. Since I switched from RODI to Distilled Water, my salinity measurement matches...

Nori feeder… what do you use?

Main problem I have with most of them is that they are either black or have a color. This would bother me visually. Also, some of them look complicated to operate. I took another picture of the one I propose since this is not shown well on the website. It takes 10 seconds to add the sheet, slide...

    Thomas' CADE Reef 1500 S2

Yellow sno first I believe. The ProBio comes only later from what I remember. I also think Ken/Hydrospace mentiond to me that the yellow sno has phosphate in it, so you might want to watch your phosphate levels with the NSW already having phosphate in it. Although one bottle will not be...
