SPS is hard. Nice Acros even harder. What makes it easier is a mature established reef, which also means that the tank and all parameters are stable, and a SPS/Acro dominant tank usually requires a lot more into equipment than a LPS/softy tank. Also if you're going after lineage "name brand" SPS...

There are always exceptions to the rule. And specially once your system is matured and you are a more advanced reefer. But generally I don't think it's good advice to give newer reefers the idea that this high of a phos level would work for their tank.

Is that Nitrate? High nitrates don't seem to be too much of an issue majority of the time. High phos on the other hand will definitely show unhappy corals. I've ran phos as high as 0.5ppm and things were fine but rather keep them down under 0.2 if possible. But nutrient levels also depend on...

Just need ULR. We usually don't run in the range that the LR tests at. ULR is 0 - 0.9ppm. If you're over 0.9ppm then you can cut the tank water sample in half with 5ml tank water and 5ml rodi and get a reading then double it to find out actual. But you should never let your tank get anywhere...

Hanna ULR Phosphate

Softies definitely don't like low nitrates. Either start feeding heavier or dose nitrates. What is your phosphate at? That should also be tested for. If both are at 0 that is a quick formula for dinos to take over.

I've never ran a canopy but can't help notice the metal brackets and hinges and know what happens to the brackets on doors of DIY stands I've built. Just something to watch out for as rust getting into the tank can screw up your trace elements really bad.

Proper packaging definitely almost reduces the risk of tissue ripping to almost 0. Hard containers with a 3d printed stand and the frag plug rubber banded down to the stans so the coral cannot move and bounce on the walls is how I prefer to ship corals.

A good healthy coral can survive overnight shipping easily without developing any issues. If shipments are coming in with damaged and/or dead coral then that's a clear sign to avoid that seller for any future purchases. They are either not packaging it properly for the travel or are selling...

Bite marks in the flesh of the SPS and SPS loosing color/generally not doing well. You can look up on Google and see how it looks like.

I do agree it's weird as I was there when we dipped most of his corals and saw nothing.

I added zero coral since his SPS and all the coral in this system before his SPS went through full QT and pest treatment. Not sure how else it would've gotten in.
