I've also had luck with a clear plastic cup. Left it clipped to the top inside of the tank for a few days. Sprinkled stone food into it and waited for the fish to go in after the food.
I caught my yellow tail damsel by clipping a plastic cup in the tank at the top for three days. Once the fish were used to it, I out some food in there and waited for the damsel to swim in to eat. Pulled out the cup soon as he went in.

I've been holding onto my wp-25 since the first group buy till i get a bug enough tank. I only used it for 5 min cause it was way to strong.
Now I'm looking at the wp-10
I think you pretty much have it nailed. Some will host anything and some won't host at all. You just have to give it time.
That being said, you can buy or make a small breeding cage and out the clownfish and anemone in it. I've done this twice in the past and within the hour my clownfish...
