    What salt should I get?

I use reef crystals. I used to use red sea coral pro for a long time. But then found it hard to justify the cost when seeing how many very very successful tanks just run regular IO or reef crystals. That said, the cost isn't really THAT much higher in the grand scheme of things. I just...

    Moving a new aquarium. How?

Have them drop the pallet in the garage. Get a few people with suction cups to move it. I don't think you need fork lifts, dollys, etc. You aren't moving it far, or up stairs. A few patio/walkway steps do not count as stairs. That looks like 30-60 seconds of walking max. Or. We could take...

Stocking ideas for a RSR 250?

Of course - hope it is helpful! Honestly, calling the blenny an algae eater in the same spectrum as a tang is a massive massive stretch. My purely anecdotal experience is that the blenny spends 90% of its day sitting in a hole in my rock work. It is in no way shape or form a tang -- which is...

Stocking ideas for a RSR 250?

I have a Red Sea Max 250 -- which is the older version but I believe similar-ish footprint size. Its about 17-18" deep due to the AIO structure. I've had the tank for 5 (?) ish years. What I have right now: - Flameback angel - Yellow coris wrasse - Ocellaris clown pair (2 fish) - Tailspot...

    Moving a new aquarium. How?

Id trust people here - this isn't their first tank moving rodeo.

    Algae

Their first things they talk about hit on this directly. 1) The first year sucks -- to which Ryan comments his first tank first year was the easiest tank ever because he started right off the bat with fancy expensive live rock. 2) Then he turns around and starts talking about how bare bottom +...

    Algae

Did you start with dry rocks or live rocks? One of the biggest things that churns new people out of this hobby is the ugly phase of the tank, which is magnified when you start with dry rock. It takes the tank a solid year too really get going when started with sterile rocks, sand, etc...

    Algae

Just looks like normal green hair algae. How old is your tank

    Moving a new aquarium. How?

Yup post something once you have a sense of timing! And nice tank!

    Generator

How long do they actually run off a propane tank? It seems like hooking them up to a natural gas line would be the only viable option for extended use during a power outage. Emphasis on power outage; if there was a major disaster -- earthquake, wildfire, etc I'd expect gas lines to be turned off.

    Moving a new aquarium. How?

I'll leave the discussion about how to physically move the tank to others -- when I moved by 65g I just paid a contractor I had doing a remodel project $100 to have his guys carry it for me hah. But for the suction cups...

    Kessils controllable by Apex?

I'd argue that videos are way way way harder in a lot of scenarios. You need a script, camera, lighting, editing. And if anything changes it is a big effort to go back an update (If you bother to update). Written you need to write it (script), edit it, publish it. And its substantially easier...

    Kessils controllable by Apex?

Different people learn differently. I generally learn better through reading written content while others learn better through verbal. With this stuff, there is also a bit of a question around whether or not you are trying to tell someone how something works versus show them how it works. I...

Looking for a fishtank 100 Gallons and maybe up to 150

I skimmed their tanks and I think everything worthwhile already had holds on it. Unless you wanted some really beat up store tank.

All About Fish in Pleasant Hill is closing

Nice! Ya there was another one with some cool colors in the middle of my pic. I'm not familiar enough with the coral so was hard to tell if that was the actual coloration or if it was bleaching.

Awesome. I wondered when I was walking out and saw you mentioning the credit. I got the small one at the front of that tank you all were looking in. The big one in their holding tank was giant, not enough space for that!

They still have some nice ish stuff in the more expensive range. $130-$300+. Just grabbed an elegance coral that was in decent shape. Biggest issue has always been that the coral health generally is questionable. Kind of on par with the health of a lot of things. Unfortunately. This one...

xCry0x's Red Sea Max 250 Reboot

Got one of the lense kits for my phone. Here is a green monti cap -- it has some faint red/pink swirled into it which makes it a bit more unique than a generic single cap. Growing well! Colony of Sunny D Zoas I've had for years. They were in rough shape back when I rebooted things and have...

I checked them out a month or two ago -- wasn't overly impressed. But I'm still spoiled from when I used to drive by Neptunes on the way home from work when they were in Milpitas. Out of everything in the east bay right now, I'll drive down to Aquatic Collection in Hayward as my go-to...

How to get zoa’s off of rocks?

You can use bone cutters to cut the rock. Or, a dental pick (what they use to scrape tartar off your teeth) to scrape the zoa flesh off the rock.
