Truth be told, the math works out a bit less than 1.4 cups... but 1.4 is easier to measure. :)
Mixes completely in 1G. sometimes sediments will settle right after mixing but will dissolve after some time.
If you use RFH's recipe, it should workout to 1.4 cup soda ash to 1 gal btw.
He starts with 2 cups baking soda, and uses the resulting amount of soda ash after baking. If you use straight soda ash, the math works out to about 1.4 cups.
I used to have a target that worked well... less successful with regular ones though. But there were so many that i had to get them cleared in a hurry ... ironically, to save my corals and frags. But now, nothing to save.

I've yet again screwed up this week... Destroyed half if not most of my collection in this tank. Had a massive flatworm outbreak that's been building for months... finally decided to take care of them by dosing melafix. I've done this before and never really proved to be a problem...

Comment really on the Neptune stuff. A thin gasket or even silicone would have averted many problems. No real impact to cooling... DOS and EB832 are great starts.
how about products that work and are moisture/humidity resistant? I've lost so many pieces or have had to deal with electronic failures due to a bit of moisture or condensation. a lil gasket to seal the seams would go a long way...
