The way I'm seeing it, it's not true hardwood floors with each plank nailed down. Seems to be 6' or so boards with planks topping them. Sort of like pergo. The planks are all about 1' long.

+1 to the reason for demeling away the exposed skeleton? For the most part, I've found that LPS regrow over skeleton just fine.

Could try to just cycle your 'new' rocks in a container w/ some bacteria, old water, and fish food.

What about amphipods? I know copes get caught in surface tension, but seems like most decent-sized amphipods interact in the expected way with water.

Haven't tried, but depending what you're using it for it should be fine? I'd do a good rinse on them first though. Why won't you clean your other ones? I just hose it down real good in the backyard inside out. A quick soak in some bleach water and then another few good rinses and air dry and its...
