    First tank - 20 G Long

I very much like how different this is, how it looks, and your approach to many others. Only question - what is the ammonia badge for? This tank has gone through the cycle by now.

    Nice one.

Gone - PIF - Green Candy Cane (2-3 pieces)

I decided short notice to go to the swap - cannot miss these events :) - and I put you down for the last one. Just connect with me tomorrow.

RSVP BY 6/20 for the 6/22 Members-Only Frag Swap at Mission Blue

Would anyone be willing to bring a frag / larger frag of a green plating montipora? I believe it its Montipora capricornis. Something that grows as per the picture. I do not think I have seen them in recent swaps but love how they look like together with the red ones. Happy to trade or pay for it.

    Hi new here

Welcome Scot! To get most out of your membership you have to attend one of our signature events, which is the members frag swap. Your green monti reminded me to ask if someone could bring a frag to the swap.

That's a good point. It is flexible but admittedly not of great quality. I was just happy to find one, but I now think that I should have bought two of them. Hopefully, it will last until next year, when we will be going back again.

Yes, that was my first thought that the probes were overwhelmed by the particles, but the same effect happened again without glass cleaning. Btw, PH is now almost better with all of us at home haha.

Yes, but this is not what I am saying - more like - when you hear hooves, don’t always bet on horses. There is an impact on PH in our colder months (I do not call them winter since I lived in Chicago and Germany previously), which can be observed (due to high ambient CO2) and which makes sense...

RSVP BY 6/20 for the 6/22 Members-Only Frag Swap at Mission Blue

Looks like I will be able to make it despite catching up with tank maintenance. I will bring a box with freebie stuff I am constantly collecting between the swaps, but I also promised some corals: @Invictus / @MichaelB - Please let me know if you still want me to bring the green candy canes, as...

Yes, we need to think broader than just these basic mechanics of PH impacted by alk and ambient CO2. Bacteria on (often massive) surfaces inside the tank might contribute equally or more to high CO2 levels inside the water, in some tanks. I believe mine has excessive bacteria depots from heavy...

Fantastic news Kenny - thanks for letting me know! Sounds like she back to her old self haha. Will connect for pick up.

If my PH drops to 7.5 when the three of us (we left one child back in Germany :)..) come back and keep all windows open so that CO2 stays around 490 ppm, then I have a bigger problem. So yes I am inclined to think there is another reason for the drop than slightly elevated ambient CO2 levels...

    Alex’s IM 150 EXT

No, that did not bring the PH down to 7.5, and the ORP up by 100mv. CO2 ppm was and still is around 490, PH went back up to 8.2.

A great point - I thought about this more this morning actually, since the other candy canes killed a large favia colony in my nano tank :(. The short answer is no, they both seem to be getting along very well for quite some time now. Also, yes, I wanted to trim the monti but both of them love...

Thank you, Patrick. Only Day 1 after my return so I have not tried out the Tunze yet, but planning to do it ASAP. The only logistical issue with this is that both vertically oriented gyres I am using are sleeping places for a couple of fishes, so I feel bad removing one of them for now and...

Good to know. I would have not bought them from the pictures though, based on my experience with other models. But trying them in store convinced me to give them a try. Let’s see how long they last. The Tunze is still the bench mark but not always precise enough to catch smaller items easily.

I bought some items in Germany that I could not easily find here (plus the Tunze Stream 3, as per a separate post). 1. These seemed to have a very strong grip which is why I bought them for both the IM 150 and the Reefer Nano tank. Tried them out today and I am very happy with them - almost...

I am in camp 'lower nutrients' so will not make a case here for higher nutrients but I could definitelty see the growth in some, specifically the JF homewrecker, and the torches/hammers like it. The manila spy seems to have grown most, but this coral seems to grow faster than a birdsnest...

Yes, and the tank sitter ended up refilling 5 gallons, so I assume my salinity slightly increased, but have not measured yet.
