    Innovative Marine 112 INT build

If you have a wedge shim, you can pound it in pretty easy when empty. A trick there is once it is level, put another wedge shim in the opposite way, on top of the other. Two triangles on top of each other make a rectangle, so it you have a flat supporting the leg, not just the edge of a wedge...

    Innovative Marine 112 INT build

That might not be so great. It implies a bit of twist on the tank, not just out of level. My bet is that your floor is not so flat. You might want to push a shim under the leg in the lower corner to get it leveled up.

Where is the magnesium coming from?

Yeah, I use IO (normal) and it is a pain. I add Mg when I mix it. Add Mg first and it reduces precipitate a bit, not that IO has much precipitate.

If you really want to check: Very carefully measure from the water level to the bottom of the tank, at all 4 corners. They should match exactly.

Power supply / battery backup with multiple power inputs?

You can do both. Car + Main house connect to transfer switch. Output of transfer switch goes to UPS. UPS goes to fish tank.

Power supply / battery backup with multiple power inputs?

The cheap transfer switches simply drop out for a second as this switch over to deal with this.

Power supply / battery backup with multiple power inputs?

Yes, you need a transfer switch like that. Note that simple transfer switches will drop power for about a second as the switch. That will usually cause electronics like Apex to reboot. Price seems really cheap, so you might look into the quality.

    Michael's 168 build

Just curious : Do you prune your corals away from each other? Every time I near that much coral in one spot, one or two corals simply overwhelm the others. Especially things like plating Montis. Usually the least colorful one wins.

    Coral Quarantine Tank Setup?

That looks like a great list .... possibly too good. If you are a normal person, I know what will happen: You will do that once. Next time, or maybe the time after, you will remember the big hassle, not bother, do a quick dip and just dump your coral in the DT. It is tough to balance...

    Coral Quarantine Tank Setup?

The trick is to use two nearly matched good quality peristaltic pumps. Then tweak timing to make them match exactly. If you do that: There is no drift, no float switches, etc. QT can be anywhere, because all you need is a 1/4 pipe, and you can run it a long ways. My salt water mixing system is...

Coral reefer’s 360 gal system. 225 display and frag tanks

No, pretty low stand, that means he definitely plans a very tall display tank above it, or it would be aesthetically way off. With all that water depth, pretty sure he will be doing one of those mixed shallow reef / deep reef setups.

    Coral Quarantine Tank Setup?

Have you considered a salt-water-exchange QT setup. It can be permanent or temporary. (I have a permanent one) The idea is that you pump: Clean salt water => main display tank => QT tank => drain. In this case, you want a tiny QT tank, so the water exchange percentage is high. Advantages: You...

Coral reefer’s 360 gal system. 225 display and frag tanks

So what is cheaper: A new tank ... or ... all the drugs you would need to sit there and watch that plug on the wall for hours. :-)

    Custom sump feedback

As a side note, I had a recent tank crash. Still fixing it. As everything died, it was interesting to watch the water parameters. Nitrates were fine, likely do to scrubber, but phosphates went way up. So I had a bit of a different type of crash. I ended up with a giant cyano bloom, not a giant...

    Custom sump feedback

Algae scrubbers remove Nitrates and Phosphates by whatever ratio is eaten/Uptaked by the algae. Search "redfield ratio" for more details. If that exactly matches what is put in with food, minus what is uptaken by Corals, you are all set. For me though, it is not quite a match, so I have needed...

    Custom sump feedback

Skimmate containers mean you won't clean your skimmer. But yes, neck cleaners are probably a good solution to that. The algae scrubber detritus was the main reason for the order. Especially after you scrape it. Do you want to save space for a small GFO reactor? Algae scrubbers are amazing for...

Does anyone have a tank sitter checklist? How does mine look?

As long as feeding is carefully measured beforehand, you should be fine. +1 on Apex totally waiting for later. Not a priority. (Ignore this if you have a nano) There is an alternative "hack" I do not normally recommend, but it sounds like you have significant risks. Buy 24 small plastic...

    Custom sump feedback

I have my scrubber and skimmer in the same section. No problem. You might want the accessory pump and return pump in the same section. It allows that section to be larger. External ATO reservoir allows more future flexibility. Like an external temporary vacation replacement tank. Not really a...

Does anyone have a tank sitter checklist? How does mine look?

Opinion: Your to-do should mainly be a list of things to check, and a phone number to call if something goes wrong. +1 on all the advice to not let others mess with things. Dumping skimmer cup is ok. You can have an external skimmmer overflow, but that might be a hassle. Get a better ATO if it...

    New DIY lights

Regarding heat sinks: There is actually a handy site that gives very rough approximations here : https://celsiainc.com/resources/calculators/heat-sink-size-calculator/ You need to use around 700 for Rv, since there is terrible airflow and heat sinks are mounted flat. For a 10 Watt cluster I...
