Exactly, that's why the better term some people use these days is alkalinity reactor. The old way was adding some dolomite if Mg was deficient in the coral bones you're using.

It's also not that much work to keep going. @Dan-sf kept his SPS tank going just with that for a really long time when he wasn't able to do any work on it. Those colonies were massive when @Turkeysammich helped pull them out.

I think your 73 gal is going to be way too small unless you've upgraded. 250+ is what these fish need, they get huge.

If you need more, we can probably find some from members in the club that would gladly trade it in once they finish their DBTC obligations. In fact if you ever had an updated "buylist" of corals or macroalgae that people could trade in here, I'm sure they could help you from having to spend at...

I use the pinpoint probe. They work fine unless you crack them and are usually around $35.

Little bit of recession on the Duncan, so did a big water change (5gal). Swapped out the chemipure bag (free via SWA'a freebies). No other additions or changes. Shrimp are still doing well as are the crabs: Bubble algae seems to have come in on the cloves so I'll need to bring an emerald next...
