    Apex Trident Pros and Cons

Its been out about 2 years. The Dosetronic a little over a year. As for maintenance, you need to periodically calibrate the dosing pumps and the ph probe. Similar to the KH Director/ghl dosers. You have both bluetooth and wifi access to the alkatronic. It also has adjustment algorithms for...

    Apex Trident Pros and Cons

Since this thread is about the Trident...here is what I hear...whether it is true or not...I can't say from personal experience...but I am mentioning some of the reasons I do not have one. 1. Easy to use and easy to see what is going on for the top 3 values. 2. Can be used for just monitoring...

    Apex Trident Pros and Cons

Yes...I have seen variants of it. My issue is the graphing and being able to do so from my iphone. It took them nearly a year to get this software out. I don't know if Apple released it yet, but as of about a month ago, it still was not released by Apple. I also tried upgrading my dosers to...

    Apex Trident Pros and Cons

I used to have a KHDirector. I hated the s/w. The way you get the KH Director to manage dosing is so not intuitive. I really like their dosing pumps though.

    Apex Trident Pros and Cons

No...the machine does the collecting, mixing and reading for you. You schedule with your smartphone...and when completed...view the final numbers on your phone....ie. 0.15ppm

    Apex Trident Pros and Cons

No. You use the actual test kit. You pour the reagents in to vials that the system will use as if you were doing the test manually. The system basically does what you would do manually...just exactly the same way every time.

    Apex Trident Pros and Cons

Yes..you are right. Further...you want to control dosing based on the testing. I dose Core7 and it is controlled by the measured dKH of the Alkatronic with the Dosetronic :). It also adjusts the amount of dosing based on the measured dKH as it changes.

    Apex Trident Pros and Cons

Uh..no. I am not sure what you mean. The Mastertronic will be calibrated to work with specific brands of test kits...say Red Sea Phosphate. When you schedule a test, the device knows it has the Red Sea Phosphate test reagent in the system. It will draw the proper tank water volume, put in...

    Apex Trident Pros and Cons

Think you are misunderstanding. Alkalinity will remain with the Alkatronic. The Mastertronic will do the others in a different manner. The Alkatronic works by titrating a mild acid and then correlating that with a dKH measurement. The tests for Mastertronic will be using standard test kits...

    Apex Trident Pros and Cons

There is a new device about to be released from Focustronic...makers of Alkatronic. It is based on a similar principle as the Reefbot..automating the testing using standard test kits. The tests must be a liquid based test kit. Nearly all of our parameters can be tested with a liquid based...

    Apex Trident Pros and Cons

I am an Alkatronic and to be Mastertronic fan. I also have the Reefbot...so... For me, I do not want to intentionally rely solely on the Apex. I have already had a board fail on it.

I visited Aquatic Collection in Hayward yesterday since I was in the area. I had never been there. I must say, I was REALLY impressed with this store. Karson, the owner, is a really nice guy. Their store was well stocked, despite the lockdown on animals now, great competitive prices, and his...

Closed loops are old school...but still work. I don't have any wires or pumps in my tank :). I can add them if needed down the road...

I did actually. I was on ReefCentral often looking at the TOTM and then later R2R. I would browse and occasionally get a reef fix by visiting a local retailer. One of my favorites was always Vivid Aquariums in LA. I saw when the LED craze started and watched how that matured over time. T5...

No..but I did walk in the snow, in Los Angeles, 5 miles each way, going backwards on the way back. LOL You know...understanding where we have come from and how much more we have today is of great value. The changes and improvements of the hobby is amazing for me and I greatly appreciate how...

Scott's 180 Peninsula is coming along...

I didn't drill the rocks. I glued the rocks around the returns. There are four holes in the tank, each with 2 actual lines...using Loc-line. There are two holes on the bottom near the front of the peninsula and two holes on the back pane as close to the bottom I could get them. Then I built...

My last tank was a deep sand bed. I did like the DSB because of the different animal life possibilities...wrasses, stars, and such. Given this tank is intended to be mostly a SPS tank, I decided for a bare bottom in case I really need to crank up the flow. So far, I like it because it is easy...
