    Oh Crap ...

I like the sticky tape idea, most cats seem to really hate the sticky feeling on their paws. Moving the wiring cabinet may be the most expedient solution, though the doser would have to find a new home, maybe inside the tank stand.

    Oh Crap ...

One can only hope! She's fascinated with the shower though and will hop in the bottom of the tub with it running, if she's not getting sprayed from above...

    Oh Crap ...

Yeah, been thinking about getting a glass lid cut.

    Oh Crap ...

So the kittens have been fascinated with my fish tanks since day one, but this is the first leap into real trouble territory. This is Angelica and she’s active, curious and completely fearless. Look before leap? Pfft, advice for the weak and timid. I’m thinking of what I need to do before she...

    Chloramines...grrrrr

Just from your description, it’s hard to offer any specific advice on your homegrown system. However, I’ve now owned two different RO/DI systems and have had excellent results with both of them: Air, Water, Ice Typhoon III Spectrapure MC-RODI-180-10MF With both units, I found the cartridge kits...

Is there a growing trend to eliminate filter socks?

I use them while cleaning and doing water changes. I also use the mesh variety, not the fleece kind. Once the work is done, I hose them out and hang them up to dry.

    Polishing Acrylic Tank?

Ok, I found his ad again: https://sfbay.craigslist.org/sby/for/d/acrylic-aquarium-fish-tank/6723613462.html Interestingly enough, two of my tanks are in his gallery: Image #10 - Corner 45 Image #11 - 100 with end overflow Acrylic Aquarium Restoration Hancock 408-813-2028

    Polishing Acrylic Tank?

There was a fellow in the Milpitas area that polished 3 acrylic tanks for me awhile back. He did a really good job.

Apex Users : Where is the map of outlet labels to physical outlets?

Ok, I figured it out. The status LEDs on the EB832 showed me which outlet is off. The numbering is actually upside down with respect to the printing on the front of the EB832.

Apex Users : Where is the map of outlet labels to physical outlets?

Outlet 2 Row 2 does not seem to be the controlled outlet for this (it's 9:19a and the outlet is on).

Apex Users : Where is the map of outlet labels to physical outlets?

So I finally took the plunge and bought an Apex controller. I'm getting everything set up and have run into a problem -- I can't find the mapping of outlet control names to physical outlets! For example, which outlet on the EB832 is 2_2 ?

    Hello from Oakland

Steve Tyree wrote a couple books on this back in the day. I attended a lecture he gave in 2003 (I think at the Seattle Aquarium Club) on creating cryptic zones in our aquariums to encourage sea squirts and sponges to grow. Incidentally, I have some very large live rock pillars from @coral4me...

Mounting a Large Piece of Coral

I am pretty sad about that, I've been going to OSH ever since I was an undergrad at UCSC. It's one of the few places where the staff know enough to help you (and actually care to) and their selection of hardware, real hardware like stainless steel strap, nuts, washers and bolts, is superior to...

Mounting a Large Piece of Coral

Gee, I wonder who has some? In all seriousness, I accidentally fragged about a 4" x 3" piece off of one end, if you are looking. I'd just give it to you as a DBTC. Now there's an idea, I'll have to mull over just where to do that ...

Mounting a Large Piece of Coral

So I traded some Euphyllias for @cdhappy's amazing, huge piece of Hollywood Stunner. I'm trying to figure out how to mount it. Anyone have ideas? It needs to go down low, at least for awhile, so placing it atop a pillar is out. I can't just lay it on the sand, because my wrasses will bury it...

Tips on catching an Emerald Crab

I caught one just yesterday, happened to see him on the underside of a rock. I moved the rock over a net and then shook him into it. I've heard other folks say they lure them out with a chunk of food held in tweezers or a grabber and they'll hang on long enough to be caught. All of this is much...
