    Medical Coral?

Perhaps 20 years ago it was economically unfeasible to grow corals for this purpose? Very cool! I'm glad someone has figured out how to monetize coral growth outside this hobby.

DIY Help/Advice on a New (to me) 120 Gallon Tank

If I were you, I'd use all the holes as drains so you can implement a Herbie style drain on each side. Smaller holes are the full siphons and larger holes are the "emergency" drains. Just run a return over the top or drill a new small hole on the back of the tank for a return. I prefer all...

DIY Help/Advice on a New (to me) 120 Gallon Tank

IMO you might as well fix it up so you have two herbie style overflows. It gives you more options. You should go for as big a sump as feasible. If you have an external pump and skimmer you could probably get away with a 29. But if you have internal pumps and skimmers you need a 40. If you want a...

    Free cracked 75 gallon

While attempting to drill holes in a 75 gallon tank (standard 48" x 18" x ~22"), I cracked the back pane. However, this was only after I successfully drilled a 1" x 11" slit in the right pane for an external overflow box. All other panes are in great condition. If anyone wants the tank, come...

Free 50 Gallon TruVu Acrylic Aquarium and Black Commercially Built Stand

That would be cool, but I think these tanks need a top panel to help brace the tank, so it wouldn't be as simple just cutting off the top. Still a good idea, especially since the tank is free anyway :-) you wouldn't be losing much if it didn't work out! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Free 50 Gallon TruVu Acrylic Aquarium and Black Commercially Built Stand

I'm back in town and want this thing gone! Pic: Come and get it in North Oakland near Alcatraz and telegraph! I'm not sure how much longer my gf will let me keep it here, so if no one here wants it soon, it will be posted on Craigslist. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Tank sitter?

I live in North Oakland, just west of Rockridge. I would be willing to tank sit for you depending upon how far away from me you live. Perhaps you could pay me in the form of frags or tank sitting for me in the future :) PM me if you'd like me to do it!

Free 50 Gallon TruVu Acrylic Aquarium and Black Commercially Built Stand

I'm out of state at the moment, but if memory serves, the tank is four feet long by one foot wide by ~20 inches tall. Bent front corners (front and side panels are one piece). The stand is about an inch longer and wider than the tank and about 30 inches tall, maybe a little taller, with a lip...

Free 50 Gallon TruVu Acrylic Aquarium and Black Commercially Built Stand

This club has already given me a bunch of free aquariums so I figured I would give a little back. Up for grabs is a 50 gallon TruVu acrylic aquarium with black acrylic back panel. Very few scratches because, before I set it up, I sanded and polished the crap out of it to remove the scratches...

    Spam spam and more spam!

Yeah, how does this even happen? Someone's computer gets a virus that tracks their keystrokes and then gets their username and password for this site and takes over their account here? Shouldn't we just be able to report it to mods and have their account closed/banned and send them an email...

    DIY Diaphragm DC ATO pump

This is interesting to me since I just purchased a bunch of stuff from Avast, including their diaphragm pump. I noticed the submersible pump you linked, Fidel, says "continuous working life of 500 hours". That seems low, but I guess that isn't so bad? I mean, at a gallon of evap per day...

Anyone have Formalin? Located near peninsula or hayward?

I'm all the way in Berkeley, but I could get you some formalin from my lab. Let me know if you want to try and get it from me.

    My reef system

Nice! I am setting up a similar system with equal sized DT and display refugium. But my GF and landlord wouldn't hear of it being in the house, so it is going in the garage (which is being transformed into a fish room :)). How long has your system been up?

[Aug 2, 2014] Behind the Scenes Tour of the Steinhart Aquarium (San Francisco, CA)

This sounds awesome :-) Is there still room in anyone's car who is leaving from the East Bay? Of course I will help pay for gas/toll if I can carpool with you!

Recommendation for a really red coral?

For zoas, I agree with Enderturtle. This isn't my pic, but this is exactly how my red people eaters looked with plenty of blue light in my old tank back in Texas. Like most corals, they look dimmer and more orange/brownish under strong daylight (6500K).
