Welcome to Gran Playa Del Mar

I appreciate it. I have a frag system that has rocks and sand in the sump that have been there a couple years. I added some zoas with their attached rocks (2-3lbs) each to the display from the frag tank as well. Even the zoas are not thriving. I’ve had this nem from once was legend for 6 months...

Welcome to Gran Playa Del Mar

I took some rocks from the frag system and put them in the sump. I doubt it’s going to do much at this point. My frag system has its own problems but a rock from that system better than nothing I guess. I’ve kinda hit my wits end so I’m just going to let the tank coast for a bit.

    SPS Poylp Disease

That tank hasn’t had any carbon dosing since late August I want to say. Give or a take a month on that time frame. When I was carbon dosing, the skimmer was on. The skimmer has been off since then. I am dumping reef roids and pellets into the tank to try and stop my no3/po4 dosing. The fuge has...

Welcome to Gran Playa Del Mar

Starter SPS frags STNd over multiple weeks. LPS are fine, but not thriving. I suspect that allowing a tank to mature without any starter coral for too long supports an environment not conducive to coral. It’s been 2 months since those additions. I am going to try a single Bali slimmer frag...

    SPS Poylp Disease

I would be open to testing it out on some of the hardier frags like the poccilpora. The tenuis that are infected are struggling more than the others based on observation. Would aquabiomics be able to confirm vibrio strain accurately enough to determine it prior to dosing? Probably a question...

    SPS Poylp Disease

Hahaha if I see vendors start selling acros like this in a few years I’m going to be really disappointed I didn’t start it.

    SPS Poylp Disease

Gonna try higher dosage dips. I’ll try to locate some KCl and do a dip or one of the infected to see if one succeeds. Thanks!

    SPS Poylp Disease

Cipro in-tank doses at .125mg/l - .2mg/l were ineffective at stopping the polyp disease, 1 week post treatment in tank. Going to attempt stronger dips at 1-5 g/l outside of the tank. Polyp disease has broken routine and persisted past the usual timeframe. Some corals have worsened. Picture...

    Tank sprung a leak

I’ve had two Red Sea tanks that never leaked. With that said, I will never own another Red Sea tank ever again. Just my .02, but I think you’re better looking at other big names. They don’t seem to have the same frequency of seam bursts. Sorry to hear about the tank. Let me know if there is...

    Dealing with sudden algae

I ordered 2 blue tuxedo urchins. I have a long spine in my 40b which is connected to the same system, and that tank has no algae, but I’ve never seen turf in there to begin with. Lot less light on that tank. The king spine can’t fit in the Frag tank so hopefully the tuxedos arrive soon and...

    Dealing with sudden algae

I’m having a massive turf algae outbreak after two years as well. I just order some urchins. I hope they help. I didn’t know flucon worked on turf, may try that. Good luck, hopefully this thread gets updates with some results in time.

Failing seal on Red Sea Aquarium

I think Redsea is garbage. One of the factors the 900 3xl is better off in my garage than my home. Owned multiple of their tanks, never will again. My .02 Sorry to hear about your experience :(.

how long do Berghia live once they run out of aiptasia?

I see populations dwindle about 2-3 weeks after the last aptasia. Hard to be sure because I have no way to tell when the last egg hatched.

    Reef moonshiner program

I run it loosely. I don’t do water changes but I don’t think reef moonshiners allows me to do that. I didn’t do them before moonshiners. It’s quite a bit of micromanagement daily and the frequent ICP isn’t cheap. I don’t see much in the way of material gains from just doing weekly trace...

    SPS Poylp Disease

That system hasn’t had carbon dosing in about 2-3 months. That frag has been like that for a couple months now. When I do dose it I’m using Tropic Marin bacto balance.

Welcome to Gran Playa Del Mar

Tank is doing ok. Been working nutrient lower. First coral have been added this week. We will see how these do. Not sure when I want to try a tenuis in there yet.

    The Sodel Frag Tank

No material update. 2 week vacation in September and everything was doing well when we got back. Bought some QTd fish for the frag tank in hopes I could stop dosing nitrate every day. Expected in two weeks. Turned skimmer off permanently in Sept.
