    optimal hose size for 1500gph

It won't kill flow per-say. The same amount of water will go into the pipe, it will will eventually run at a slower velocity. That can allow things to build up and eventually clog. That said, in our applications as an example, I don't think picking 1.25" vs 1" is going to make that much as long...

    Suggestions for tilting tank

Easy peasy. I think I drained at least halfway if not more. Also, I had no rock or sand in the tank at the time

    Suggestions for tilting tank

Air shims are money btw! Love 'em. I used them for my 150 gallon. Post in thread 'Randy’s Flock o' Reef Tanks' https://www.bareefers.org/forum/threads/randy%E2%80%99s-flock-o-reef-tanks.32907/post-543708

    Suggestions for tilting tank

I would suggest composite shims and not wood shims. Wood shims will expand and then eventually deteriorate if (when) water gets on them. https://a.co/d/ip9dZXf

Looking for pictures (or videos) of successfully run tanks up to 50 gallon

Of course using cured, seeded and cycled rock will allow you to set up a tank faster. Have enough of it and you can have a fully loaded tank from day one. But two years even from dry rock seems far too long. I've had way too many tanks from 5 to 150 gallons. If I took two years to get a tank...

    9 footer disaster

You're asking for trouble. Get rid of that bendy stuff and epoxy. Recipe for another leak if you lean on that flexible drain wrong that epoxy will probably crack or become separated from the hard pvc connector.

    WYSIWYG Preorder SPS colonies

Specioas are evil mofos. I've been working on this one for a month or so. Already bleached it a little, but at least it's still alive. If you see any speciosa locally, let me know!

    WYSIWYG Preorder SPS colonies

This is a timeline of a mariculture piece I got from Clearwater about 5 months back. Post in thread 'Randy’s Flock o' Reef Tanks' https://www.bareefers.org/forum/threads/randy%E2%80%99s-flock-o-reef-tanks.32907/post-552858

    Dangalang Laundry Room Frag Tank

Polycarbonate lid made from two pieces. If you want to get fancy, you could add a handle and use some weld-on to attach. I dremeled a hole on the backside for wiring. It's been used for about two years now. No warping.

    Dangalang Laundry Room Frag Tank

Just find polycarbonate (do not used cast acrylic) from the scrap bin and cut to fit. Probably will cost you less than $5.

    Randy’s Flock o' Reef Tanks

Oh and here's why unions are so important in large tank or multi tank setups. If I had to replace that faulty bulkhead (the one at the top of the picture) while it was still installed on the tank, I don't think I could have done as easily as I did. I would have had to drain the whole tank...

150 Gallon Tank (Day 138) Some enabler mentioned a good deal on a tank to me and not surprisingly, I went and got it. I ended up adding an IM25 AIO tank to my 150 Gallon display tank. I plan to use this add on tank for bounce shrooms only. Plumbing this thing while the 150 was running was a...

While not CPEX true union ball valves, these have served me well over the years at a fraction of the cost. https://a.co/d/2a03BER

    Help moving a 210gallon tank

If you're going threaded into the bulkhead, make sure you use pipe dope/thread sealant and not Teflon tape. In my experience, Teflon tape will leak more often then not when used with PVC or you will get an excessive amount of salt creep. As a FYI, Teflon tape isn't technically supposed to be...

    Help moving a 210gallon tank

Then even more reason to have them higher. You can't move that tank easily because you can't set it down on the bottom of the tank because the drain pipes will be in the way. Also, I'd make things as serviceable as possible especially in a large tank. No idea when you might need to replace a...

    Help moving a 210gallon tank

Those unions are going to be a pain in the ass to service, if even at all possible. If it was me, I would have put the union closer to the external overflow box so I could reach over the tank with a ladder and added another union inside the cabinet right after entry into the cabinet. Where's...
