I have four Carbon Dosers (various revisions of the "V1") in service, the longest has been running for 7ish years. A dual stage regular is generally better, but I personally haven't seen the need for me to change yet. Would I repair one? Sure depending on cost.

Make sure to have a float valve in the container should you forgot to manually switch it off or don't have an automatic timer setup to switch it off for you. Better yet, just have your ATO configured with float switches and use a controller to trigger filling it to a high sensor or for a period...

I wired most of them to run off the 24V accessory port on the apex, though there are some wired to a 12V power block and controlled via a switched outlet.

If i actually ever had mechanical filtration in my tanks and I used something like this, I'd take it the pressure washer to it. That would probably clean it up in minutes.

Using a secondary reactor filled with more media. Dosing kalk (everyone's favorite). Making sure there is really good gas exchange (skimmer or surface agitation).

The AC ones. I'm actually replacing all the ones that were on my calcium reactors and media reactors. I just find in general the seem to start rattling in the any of the synchra line of pumps. Not sure if the impellers swells or gets warped, but they all end up being noisy for me.

Sicce Synchra Silent pumped are anything but silent. I've been slowly replacing them on anything I have running on the tanks.
