    Your favorite coral glue?

Agreed that the above is the best superglue I have used. I still mostly use the very economical stuff from Amazon but if cost was not an issue then I would go IC-gel all the way. I generally have some around for when I am gluing important frags to the rockscape in the display tank.

    Fenbendazole Coral Tank Treatment

thank you for the link. I didn’t know this vendor existed. One potentially very useful product is the metro flakes / pellets. That could be a more reliable way to treat fish going through medicated quarantine with metronidazole. The powder version of metro is easy to purchase but you have to...

    WYSIWYG SPS Coral Colonies

In terms of value for money there is zero doubt that getting known frags is the more dependable route. Of the three marine culture SPS I grew out none are long term keepers. That won’t stop me from gambling on some marine culture SPS again in the future. The prices at Clearwater are great so...

    WYSIWYG Preorder SPS colonies

I purchased 3 of these marineculture and after 3 months 100% survival. What I do is frag them up immediately—I don’t leave them in colony form. No issues whatsoever with survival. The colors can change dramatically.

    WYSIWYG SPS Coral Colonies

I got frags of three marine culture SPS colonies a fee months ago. Colors in the tank were beautiful. After about 1 month in my display tank the colors changed dramatically (ie, browned out or colors flipped one one side of the color wheel to the other). I had zero issues with survival but...

    Your favorite coral glue?

You can buy ozone safe tubing on Amazon—just need to look for the right product. Reef product suppliers almost certainly get their superglue from one of the many glue OEMs other there and repackage it. Instead of purchasing from the aquarium products company you can purchase straight from the...

    Your favorite coral glue?

This is the cheapest high quality source of cyanoacrylate based super glue: https://a.co/d/1S6noqB If I could get it for similar price I would go with the small tubes of BSI which seems to set faster when working in the tank itself. When gluing frags into plugs outside the tank any gel-based...

    Fenbendazole Coral Tank Treatment

Fenbendazole is indeed a common treatment for clove polyps (several thread on the subject on Reef2Reef). I used a very small pinch of fenbendazole fish flakes and by the next day my small GSP colony retracted and eventually died even after moving it to a quarantine tank. I dosed every few days...

I’m going to cfm. You want free corals ?CLOSED.

    RedSea Reef 525

Yup I am still running the blades. I have them mounted using two HMS mounts on the back. I have the blades 3-4 inches off the water so very close. I don’t have much issue with salt creep anymore since my return pump runs pretty much 24/7 whereas before I used to turn it off 4-5 times a day for...

    RedSea Reef 525

This is the second anniversary of my first tank. After two years I wanted to start over and hopefully make less mistakes this time around. I redid my aquascape with Australian live rock from Eric Cohen at tankstop.com. Prior to this update, I hadn’t made any major changes for half a year...

    RedSea Reef 525

Apologies I never answered this since I missed the notification. No, I rarely use carbon or GAC. I have used it a few times if I want to remove something I dosed to the tank for some reason but that is pretty rare

Cool fish coming out of QT at High Tide

Thanks for the heads up. I have been monitoring the fish leaks periodically and haven’t seen anything for a while. Glad to hear a new batch will release soon!

    Yellow coral recommendations

Tequila Sunrise mushroom has a lot of yellow and orange. You could also get yellow fish!

Disappointing Experience with Cali Kids Corals

I have won several coral auctions from CKC—mostly without issue. One time I won a nice torch for a great price but when I went to pick it up in Concord it could not be found. I ended up swapping it for a different torch on hand. Not ideal but the situation could have been worse. That was...

New to Bay Area Reefers and the Reefing World

The RedSea 350 is a relatively small tank so less idk of failure than the larger tanks. I started my first tank two years ago and went with RedSea 525 G2. No issues and it looks great but if I could start over I would go with another manufacturer since some other models out there have great...

    I need aiptasia!

I will also swing by this week for some Berghia. If they manage to eat through the aptasia I see I will try to recapture them and donate them back. That is better than having them starve.

    Help tangs has developed spots

I have had great experience with Dr. Reef’s—-particularly their customer service. Health wise the specimens were great. Dr. Reef’s and High Tide Aquatics have been bulletproof for me thus far. I do buy fish from other places but those go through 4+ week quarantine which I find somewhat...

    Help tangs has developed spots

Agreed. Putting fish through quarantine is super easy. I have a 10 gallon from Petco which I use to quarantine. The QT provides a chance for new fish to fatten up before they go into the main tank. We are also lucky to have High Tide Aquatics in the area. Half my fish come from there.
