    Activated carbon (GAC) quality differences

Ordered the last copy earlier today. 26 years old though, before ICP was developed I believe. Still, I like these type of books. Thanks for recommending :).

    Activated carbon (GAC) quality differences

This is the response from Premium Aquatics after reaching out to their ‘manufacturer’. Looks like it was cross-contaminated with GFO, a plausible explanation. Good Morning Alexander, I greatly apologize about the delay, I finally heard back from the manufacturer last night, and they believe...

Circulation pumps that integrate with apex (not WAV)

Looks like you need a gyre :).

    Henergizer’s 25 Lagoon

Welcome. Starting a journal is an excellent first step. Looks like you got your ALK and CA in order, but I would also check on MG, depending on the salt you are using. At least in the beginning. Also happy to donate corals so you can (actively) attend the swap.

Diving straight in - Sameer's Waterbox Infinia 230.6 build thread

Big project, with lots of things to plan for and learn from. What happened to these fish exactly? ‘Anthias and purple gramma couldn't make it past the fish sitting period’?

What are you currently using for testing, and do you plan to upgrade? A pole!

Exactly my experience. Fast and accurate. I wish all tests were like that.

What are you currently using for testing, and do you plan to upgrade? A pole!

The Hanna CA is a pain though from what I remember - reminds me to sell mine - and the Salifert spot on or super close almost every single time when compared to ICP.

Even faster than Hanna? Will need to try that.

What are you currently using for testing, and do you plan to upgrade? A pole!

Why Hanna only as backup and not main Alk tester?

    210 gallon Dream tank

Why are you not adding more of your toadstools for now before adding more demanding corals?

    Does anyone know a welder?

Thank you. The part below seems fine. It is only the part that is seen on the picture which is broken.

A broader discussion about skimmers / Tunze DOC 9430 - best skimmer money can buy? / Impact on phosphates?

The price I paid for getting the sump for my tank was to have issues with the rollers that fit. There are some limited options but I am still waiting for IM to release one as they had promised for two years. Also, there are some concerns about rollers significantly impacting skimmer performance...

Anyone know where to get this T-Shirt from? Or what are your favorite Reef-Shirts?

thanks, i also found this, just not the one above, which was the best (evolution themed) I have personally seen thus far - https://www.zazzle.com/aquarium_evolution_fish_keeper_fishkeeping_aquasca_t_shirt-235273892044361172

I have seen similar ones but not this specific one, which I quite like.

A broader discussion about skimmers / Tunze DOC 9430 - best skimmer money can buy? / Impact on phosphates?

Sorry, yes, I was aware of this. N and P were short for NO3 and PO4 in my write up, but should have been clarified, since we were talking in more detail. Yes, this point deserves closer assessment. I am using low phosphate frozen food, but the dry food could have more phosphate, i.e., TDO. I...

A broader discussion about skimmers / Tunze DOC 9430 - best skimmer money can buy? / Impact on phosphates?

Very interesting, and it opens up another rabbit hole for me :). Is having higher NO3 and PO4 the equivalent to having higher organics, or is the issue more differentiated, that I might have lower organics in the water but still higher N/P parameters? Could be a stupid question but I just...

A broader discussion about skimmers / Tunze DOC 9430 - best skimmer money can buy? / Impact on phosphates?

That is very helpful, John, thank you. So wet skimming removes more precursors and effectively lowers nutrients overall from the water measured (at a later point) as nitrate and phosphate. It will not remove phosphate and nitrate that have already separated/broken down specifically. Also, I...

GONE - PIF - 5-gallon AIO (glass) - Walnut Creek

Max / @popper was very kind giving this tank to me a few weeks ago for a temporary project which is now done. It has been cleaned with sulfamic acid (only normal saltwater in the tank previously), and comes with the light (not blue). It works well and can run as a rather nice pico tank. It does...

A broader discussion about skimmers / Tunze DOC 9430 - best skimmer money can buy? / Impact on phosphates?

Yes, I know there was no mention of this, I have been just trying to think this further. Why do you think folks do not just water changes but go the more cumbersome route and use the skimmer for this? This is a genuine question, not a rethorical one. I thought it was to remove extra Nitrate and...
