Exactly, this actually makes me really feel better now and maybe bump my worry meter up to about 83 degrees now. Im blasting my corals with 700 PAR as well, everything is healthy and happy. I see no issues with running warmer tanks but thats just me.

8/24/25 Went to a LFS that I’ve been talking to on and off about a storage unit full of metal halides. Ended up finding a goldmine. Brand new lumenarc pendants, brand new lumatek ballasts, 24” pavona coral skeletons, and last bit def not least a frag of Leng Sy Montipora. Good haul!

So I talked with cultivated reef and Keith from reef bum got back to me….both said it’s just a standard pink birdsnest. Idk how or what’s going on but those images never look like what I’ve seen in person.

Cultivated Reef is top notch...without hesitation I would buy from them again.

Might be a hystrix out of tonga, googling now and it appears all the tonga varieties have the blunted ends.

That’s exactly what I’m looking for as well, it appears we’re all looking for the same thing.

I’ve always just let the coral settle down for at least a month at minimum, once she’s happy and I feel comfortable I’ll cut a piece off and pray she doesn’t just get so pissed off it RTN on me. Huge gamble with mariculture.
