    The Mangrove Jungle

Day 10: With the masstick I was also experimenting mixing in Cobalt Mysis flakes that I got from @Darkxerox , whose copperband likes to eat. After they developed a taste for it, I then started just laying whole flakes on the acro skeleton and they started to pick at it. Not aggressively, but...

Water change accident - saltwater on carpet

Wet dry vac would've been my first recommendation too to extract sitting water. Second I would want to rinse and extract with fresh water again to remove any residual salt or organic matter that was in the water. Either with a professional machine, like the Rug Doctor kind u can rent at Home...

    The Mangrove Jungle

Indeed. The sad part is I've read about similar instances on other forums, yet I didn't take further precautions :( I've always known that these are extremely difficult fish to keep, and the thinking was always that they ate coral polyps. Now the rumors are that this is untrue and they're...

    The Mangrove Jungle

Stopping the seahorse macroalgae project. Inspired by freshwater planted aquascapes, I wanted to create a lush macroalgae system with seahorses and mangrove trees but eventually ran into too many problems. Algae I've had infestations of it all one after another. Massive snotty hair algae...

RODI to Soft Tubing Connector Calcium Reactor

I use a 3/16" barb to 1/4" push connector. Barb end connected to the Kamoer soft tubing and 1/4 push going into an shut-off coupler. From there you can connect rigid tubing to your reactor.

Featured Lets see the eye candy from the 6/22 swap

Yea I see what you mean now in some of the pics they do look like axial corallites, but not definitive. We'll have to wait and see if someone gets it growing and if the growth tips are smooth or have the axial corallite.

Featured Lets see the eye candy from the 6/22 swap

Because of the lack of prominent axial corallites (polyps at the tip), I almost want to say this is an anacropora and not an acropora. Maybe anacropora puertogalerae. I think this is the original colony while it was still at Stanford

    Need larger skimmer

Octo skimmers get my vote, either the Elite or Regal if you're looking for higher end. I have the Elite 220-sss on my 210 gallon and it does a fantastic job with a high bio load (24+ fish). With a variable speed pump you can turn it down until your bio load need the additional power. If you can...

    PIF: Diatomaceous earth

Yup. They used to have an external one too, I think the Magnum 350 Or way back in the 90s there was the Vortex filter that was specifically to use with DE.

Thoughts on a Solution for Tank Starting to leak while on Vacation

Sounds like the leak is above the overflow weir if it slows down when you stop the return pump? Open up the drain valve all the way so it'll have maximum drainage flow and keep your return pump on low. This way, the water level will stay at the lowest possible level while still draining and have...

Thoughts on a Solution for Tank Starting to leak while on Vacation

Do you or your friend have ratchet straps or clamps long enough to fit the length of the tank, like a bar clamp? It could help slow down the leak until you get home. Times like these I wonder if flex seal tape will work, as gimicky as they may seem

    Losing my goni’s, need help

Do the gonis touch or have you moved any of them around? There's a bunch of different species under the goniopora genus and they do not all get along. In my tank I've seen them essentially burn each other and the affected tentacles wither away.

    PIF: Diatomaceous earth

I only use it on an as needed basis. Time's i've used it: When I want to remove all the very fine particulates in the water column. I don't use any filter socks or rollers Added new sand, wanted to clear out the white cloud Ich control in a QT tank, though I don't use it for such anymore During...

    PIF: Diatomaceous earth

I bought a 5lb box of pool grade diatomaceous earth a couple years back and barely made a dent usage since I only use a couple tablespoons at a time. If anyone wants any feel free to grab some since you can't buy this stuff in small quantities. Pickup in Dublin For those wondering, DE gets used...

    Reef 3D printing request thread

There's was some deli cup discussion for the frag swap so figure this might be useful for someone. Inspired by @ashburn2k 's bucket frag holder, I made one for deli cups. I've fit 5 acro frags in here before and it was a lot less of a hassle than packing them individually when you're giving a...

    DBTC: Bubblicious Goniopora

I'll be out of town so won't be at the swap. Pickup is in Dublin or can coordinate at the next event I go to.

    DBTC: Bubblicious Goniopora

I bought this as a tiny frag in March 2023 and have grown it out under medium to high light and flow. At the time it was sold to me as an LRO Bubblicious goniopora but I can't find much reference to it online and what I do find doesn't match up in looks, so I'll just call it bubblicious. I...
