    Neptune trident advanced replacement

Try running through the Neptune debug online and seeing if there is an obvious failure point, ie is one reagent not filling properly, or what's going on there. I bought a second hand Trident to mess around with and for spare parts in case the main one goes down.

    Neptune trident advanced replacement

Got the new silicone tube in the mail and did a more complete refurb replacing all the tubing that was old and stiff from the unit being in the desert. Time to plug it in and see if I can get it to work again. I'm getting good at talking these apart. Maybe I tell Neptune to send me units to...

    Lots of Zoas

I used to do a zoa fragging workshop at my house for anyone who wanted to come over and make their own frag. Real reason is I wanted them to do the work and take the frag home, while sharing the knowledge about how to frag zoas safely. You could bring the whole rock to a fragging workshop next...

    What is this algae?

Hair algae, herbivores are the solution. Remove what you can manually and let the herbivores to the rest. Add another urchin and some turbo snails would be my thought.

    GONE Purple Stylo Popsicle

It's a reference to my other thread about killing my test sps pieces. The tank is mostly great.

    GONE Purple Stylo Popsicle

I'll stop killing stuff eventually... probably

Why do easy sps die in a new tank and why is coral so easy to grow after 18 months?

I think its is the mature rock no matter how much because that seems to be the deciding factor on immediate success or not for many people, and that contains the multitude of bacteria and small organisms/eggs of those, sponges and others. My new tank was prohibitively large to do all old rock...

Why do easy sps die in a new tank and why is coral so easy to grow after 18 months?

This thread is talking about my new tank specifically, but also in general that most people find success after 12-18 months into a tank, myself included with my old system. I tend to agree with Derek, that I have somewhat more knowledge and skills than your average reefer (maybe not average bar...

    Testing out my DSLR

During the photoshoots on my old system, we played a lot with the light spectrum in the kessil app to help it turn out nice.

Why do easy sps die in a new tank and why is coral so easy to grow after 18 months?

I've got 3" of crushed coral in the tank again, and credit some of the success of the last system to having massive ammounts of biological filtration. I used the same strategy here, so here's to hoping it all ends up the same! I do see tons of pods, but as we discussed above it sounds like...

Why do easy sps die in a new tank and why is coral so easy to grow after 18 months?

Great points all so far. On my shopping list now is: Foundation (nowhere to be found on brs or swa, I'll keep looking), sponges (all over the cleaning aisle of Albertsons), "unknown complexity", a "shitload" of coral, and patience. Who wants to place bets on when I stop killing "easy corals"...

Why do easy sps die in a new tank and why is coral so easy to grow after 18 months?

I was wondering this recently. My 300 has all dosing set and a huge water volume, so no major swings. On my old tank, I found that once the tank hit 12 months, and really when it hit 18 months, coral growth took off. Does anyone know the mechanism as to why things like Seriatopora...

    Yellowfin Tang - Acanthurus xanthopterus

If you get stuck, I'll pay for shipping to Vegas and it can live in my 300, but I hope someone local can take it. Live aquaria says min 360 though, so here's to hoping someone local with a bigger tank than I have can take it.

HG Torch - does anyone have one like this?

They are $250-$300 a head here in Vegas

    Neptune trident advanced replacement

I got a cheap used one, and am going to swap hoses out with the new silicon. And yes, I am getting pretty good at the "refurbishing" of these

    Cabinet Install

My only addition would be to stack books or something to set the cabinets on, then screw into place. Hard to hold the cabinet and work the screw gun at one time.

    Neptune trident advanced replacement

I did, needed new reagents, the tubes needed connecting, and two of the solenoids needed to be pushed back into place. It's working now.

    Neptune trident advanced replacement

I think I found replacement tubing here for anyone looking to refresh their tubing. Much cheaper than the stuff on amazon. https://www.usplastic.com/catalog/item.aspx?itemid=134741&clickid=search

Guide: Lanthanum Chloride dosing for Phosphate control

Because Rich on Reef Beef does it! And I want to be just like him when I grow up. Also @Thales , I wore my Reef Beef shirt you signed and to the local Vegas coral show and got so much street cred. I need to bring it to a show that Ben is at, or maybe mail it to him to get the other shoulder...
