Dream Tank 2 72g Freshwater Planted Tank

Sand paths are a pain to maintain in my experience, I regret mine. Aquasoil always finds its way into the sand, no matter how good the barrier is. If you're up for the challenge and extra maintenance, go for it! P.S. Not sure if the rubble outline is finalized, but I would make the front of...

13,000 gal outdoor reef tank in So Cal

Super cool. I assumed he lived somewhere tropical, but it turns out he's in So Cal! Does anyone know this guy? I wish I had the space... and the money... and the time... and the climate.

How difficult is planted compared to reef

If you can maintain a reef tank, you can maintain a planted tank. Once you dial in CO2, nutrients, and light, the only real maintenance is weekly water changes and trimming. Water changes are easy (I find much better results with re-mineralized RO water). You can achieve a full grown in look...

    Should I move this goni?

I've seen conflicting info about whether or not goniopora of different type play nicely with each other. My green one has been retracted for the past week or so, I'm wondering if it's being bothered by the pink one. Should I move it?

    New display at HTA

Love the stained deck. Tank is at eye level, but you can still use the steps for maintenance. Can't wait to see it in person.

Thoughts on a Solution for Tank Starting to leak while on Vacation

Is it possible to have your friend drain the tank to below where it's leaking from? Heater (and sensor?) is already in the display. Ideally, also move the ATO into the display, but if you're gonna be home on Sunday evaporation may not be too bad.

I almost sprang the extra $$ for a legit microscope with a stand, sample holder, stage, etc. Yours looks pretty good for a toy microscope. If it is dinos, I would think I would see dense groups of cells, like in your picture? It seems like the brown slimy stuff in the first pic doesn't have...

Since I don't have any fish/inverts, I haven't been feeding the tank. I was dosing N/P, but very recently switched to feeding some leftover LRS juice prepared for my other tank. I'm hoping this helps. I'll try to scrub/siphon it off. I should stop being so lazy, it's only 3g haha. Thanks for...

June Update I ordered a cheap $20 handheld microscope from Amazon to try to ID the snotty stuff in the tank (dinos?): I didn't have high hopes for image quality, given the price. I grabbed some snotty tank water and sandwiched it between two 1mm glass coverslips using a pipette. Below are...

For those with reefs now ... any pictures from an old freshwater tank?

I currently have a few planted tanks running. This 5g nano is my favorite right now. Home to a colony of neocaridina shrimp and a group of pygmy cories:

Interesting… I’ll buy or borrow a microscope to take a few pictures. Thanks!
