These bins are surprisingly strong. I kept 50 gallons in here before when I first moved out which is where I got the idea from. I agree filling it all the way would likely be a mistake, but it gives me a good buffer of water given how much I to use.

What don't you like? It is sitting directly on the 4 2x6's on the plywood. Or you don't like using these black bins as water containers?

Got two sheets of 3/4" plywood over there now, and filled it up to 50 gallons with no noticeable flex in any bad directions.

I ordered the one size up, so it is 5/8" - 1 1/4", so with the algae scraper it is still centered at 3/4" glass. And I have a spacer to "weaken" the field. But seriously, these magnets are no joke. My other smaller ones can hurt a finger badly, these would be catastrophic.

I do trust your input, just ordered one to try with all the fixings. I do have 3 sides of the tank to clean after all.

Just to close the loop here. The DC version seems to make finer bubbles and is tunable within the right height. I like it, but haven't taken it apart yet. I'll like it less then if that day comes.

Fun story, back in college I was working on an engineering project to make wave powered generators for buoys using coils and magnets. We were using 90 lb force magnets that flew at each other from 12+" away from each other on a lab bench and exploded on impact. I wonder why Mighty Magnet says...

That's how I feel about the Great White size, and these Mighty Magnets look like they can be even stronger.

My theory is something inside the wav leaks or a wire partially breaks, because I have had a couple fail on me intermittently. Then the connections aren't rock solid and I have a toddler who sometimes wiggles things. The guy on the phone at Neptune said he hadn't ever seen as many wav's (7) on...

Upsizing my ro container. 27 to 75 gallon capacity. I know, I should get plywood under there. But I'll just fill it a little bit and see when the sag happens. Worst case, garage floor is really wet. Lots of projects, not enough nanny time to get me free to do projects. Tank has been somewhat...

Not a hijack if you are talking about the stuff in the thread, lol. I wanted to get away from the complex German assembly, but boy do they work.

Stupid club. I come here looking for a cheaper solution and end up getting the DC Tunze skimmer for more money. Bunch of enablers you are!

I just saw the miniq is only good for glass/acrylic up to 1/2" thick and mine is 3/4" acrylic. I was looking to try that, maybe I get one and stick it on my 45. But that and the fact that it is only really rated to 20 gallons and the Tunze is 30 w/ heavy bioload I am leaning towards forking out...

They do the same as in a big tank, gives your water gas mixing and helps pull waste out. I run one on both by 30 and 45 tanks and am happy with them. My skimmer has helped a lot before when I accidently overdosed vodka in my little tanks and my fish needed to breathe. I would say it is less...

Have you taken it apart to clean it before? The AC one is a pain to get the plastic parts to all line up for me. And the DC once is $260 vs $200 on the ac one. That's the wrong direction on price, lol

Hey Bar, I just had my Tunze 9004 skimmer die and am looking to replace it. They are $200 new, so I am open to others. I have anohter one on my 45 gallon cube and don't hate them, except when I need to figure out how to put them back together after a cleaning. BRS and some people on youtube...

    Reefing and setbacks

Thanks. I had some flow issues where my wav pumps weren't getting recognized so I only had 4 of my 9 wavemakers going for a couple weeks. Cyano took over a lot. I ended up getting my mp60 out and putting that on the tank just in case the wav's went out again when I came back to the bay for...

I would consider keeping the tank going with a few softies than you can grow out. Super low maintenance. Feed, skimmer clean, and top off and nothing else is needed. That gives you something to look at and grow, but not worry about coral disease. That is where I am currently at with my big...

Rant : medical cost is crazy

I know we have at least one Dr here in the club. Does a private message on the bar forum count next time? I'll get my wife to send you one next time too!
