If you look on the left side of the first picture they do have a micro feather duster like extension. Seems like some types of colonial hydroids could present similar to this, but I would guess they are micro feather dusters and not actually the cause of the zoas going downhill.

This is a tough one, similar to jawbreaker mushrooms where it would be ideal to have a photo in order to vote whether that particular coral really is a bonus or not. However, photos can be tough for some people, and we've decided to stick with a broader approach, so the 2-3 colors, 3+ colors etc...

Is this in your frag flat? If so, wouldn’t be too much work to remove all the inverts. I know for sure it has a high likelihood to kill brittle stars. I would always suggest the more natural predator route first.

Anything else in there yet? Have you resisted the torches?

Time for a 6 line or springeri. Certain mandarins have been known to eat them as well
