    Cleaner Shrimp & Zoanthids

I've been chasing them off with a baster, but that isn't a viable long term solution, yanno? Did your zoanthids show any signs of detriment when the cleaners were on them all of the time? My fear is that if the zoanthids continue to remain closed when the shrimp are on them, the zoanthids may...

    Cleaner Shrimp & Zoanthids

I noticed my two cleaner shrimp have made a habit of lounging on my rock is zoanthids. Not picking at anything ... just hanging out on top of them. They seem to be on the zoanthids all the time -I am growing concerned as the zoanthids close, and remain closed as long as the shrimp are there...

Yellow Longnose Butterfly (Forcipiger flavissimus) in Reef?

Adding a longnose butterfly to my reef tank is not something I would do either, unless as Mike mentioned -all of my corals were bountiful and ultra grown out, to negate any picking that may, and probably will occur :) Very picky eater as well, IME.

    Sand

I suppose many LPS find themselves on the substrate of the reefs, and probably periodically find sand and sediment landing on them. But the look of sand on my corals irks me :)

    Sand

In retrospect, I do wish I had gone with a larger grain size, but this fine grained oolite is what I had lying around in my garage, haha. I've already tried moving my powerhead, but there are only so many places you can put an mp10. What also probably does not help is the very low key/minimal...

    Sand

Yup, I currently am using agroconcrete plugs to keep sand it's place. I've also resorted to using a couple small corals :)

    Par 38 LED?

So, I've just gotten my hands on a Boost LED lamp (BLL) myself, not too long ago -the one I have has 40* optics, with a 4b/1w color combination. There are other LED color combinations you can choose from on Boost LED's website, IIRC. These lamps burn 10w total, each. In any case, I am...

    Sand

Good to know Dave, thanks! I definitely like the look of the oolite as well -adds a more "natural" feel to the tank! I think I can deal with the sand shifting a little bit, but what is actually bothering me is the sand landing on a couple LPS pieces I have on the sand -mainly a favia and a...

    Sand

With the mixed reef I set up, I decided to go with sand, just for a change from the normal bare bottom route I normally take. I am using Caribsea sand, if I recall correctly. The sand is very fine -almost sugar like. I am currently using an mp10 for circulation in this tank. In order to...

    Vortech mp10 Issue

Problem solved, I cleared the calibration: http://ecotechmarine.com/faq/troubleshooting/my-pumps-driver-is-blinking-red-what-should-i-do/ "If you would like to re-enable calibration properly, remove the dry side from the aquarium, hold it in your hand, and follow the directions for...

    Vortech mp10 Issue

I am having a problem with my mp10. All modes work fine, except for reef crest. I normally use Lagoon mode, however this morning when I switched to Reef Crest mode, the mp10 ran like it should; about 5-7 sec. into Reef Crest mode, the driver begins blinking red, and the pump completely stops...

Clownfish covered in white film layer

Freshwater dips generally help in instances I've observed, in the case of brookynella.

Clownfish covered in white film layer

Brookynella, or Velvet are the first two things that come to my mind, however I'm no pro with diagnosis. Just throwing in my two pennies.
