Grounding your aquarium while you check with the cheap meter would also collapse ghost readings. Seems like there are a few workarounds even without an expensive multimeter. edit: grounding would also collapse "real" stray voltages, but if you have a GFCI it would trip letting you know it's real.

I was thinking of diluting it with RODI 20:1. Then 1ml (diluted) = 1 drop (un-diluted). A lot more room for error that way…

Total water volume is ~65g, but probably closer to 55g subtracting rock/sand. Sounds like upping the dosage makes sense. I've actually noticed better coloration already!
