    replacing shocks on Tocama

Hi All, Think my shocks are blown, I have no idea how old they are, but the truck is a 95 and they could very well be the originals. I towed a boat on 880 with a tongue weight of around 300lbs, I think hitting the bumps, dips, and pot holes at 55mph killed them, the rear end is sitting a...

    Vitamin C

here are a couple articles I found quick http://www.pnas.org/content/105/1/54.full http://www.springerlink.com/content/8lp5y5e1kahpuqpe/ here is a quote from Eric B: "I would suggest the Internet rumor mill on Vitamin C began with a teenage reefkeeper who won a Colorado Springs science fair...

    Vitamin C

I did a pretty significant literature review and proposed some possible theories why dosing ascorbic acid. I actually blindly, desperately dosed last year when I had a zoa melt down and I became convinced after it completely turned around my tank. If you search Puffy's thread you will find...

    fine mesh media bags

Hi all, Any suggestions on good media bags that will keep Seachem, everything I ordered the little grains of the media still find a way to get out. Thanks, Josh PS: And if any LFS carry them that would be a HUGE plus.

Anybody seen or have these nano tanks before?

check out the 9 and 12gal CADLIGHT tanks, I really like the 9 gal tank, 5mm thick bow front, I like the minimalistic design, very attractive and for $70 not too bad for that quality tank. They also have some interesting T-5 lighting options for the Nano's too...

Differences between RO water and DI water

when I was at school back northeast our water would smell like fish for week in the spring because the water in the reservoir would turn over right after ice out. I guess the thermalcline brings up a bunch of decaying matter and it stinks the water.

Differences between RO water and DI water

no, if I'm using it to de-chlorinate I always wait 24hrs, I was actually seeing how much it dropped the detectable ammonia in my tank, so I was adding drops of it directly to the tank. It doesn't change the pH or anything else, and I did detect a drop in my ammonia, but I had no conclusions...

Differences between RO water and DI water

also another point, Purigen is amazing stuff and there is such thing as TOO MUCH, when I first brought it up on the forum (using large amounts) Jeremy mentioned that it works too good sometimes, and it definitely does, since many of my softies like some level of organics in the water. I started...

Differences between RO water and DI water

yes, Prime removes chlorine, chloramine and ammonia. My zoas don't like it(poor extension) if I add it right to the tank, not sure why, so I always dose it and wait 24hrs before adding to the tank.

Differences between RO water and DI water

I know this isn't the case for everyone, but I've converted completely over to City of Berkeley tap water on my reef tanks and I have not had any issues with coral health or nuisance algae in the five months since I've converted. A couple things to point out: Not all City Water is created...

What would make my PH drop really low out of nowhere?

Looks like very nice respiration curve, as Norm mentioned. Essentially all your photosynthetic organisms are sucking the CO2 out of the water at the end of the dark phase of photosynthesis. It is very natural, but unfortunately your tank does not have the vastness of the ocean to buffer this...

    HELP!! Frogspawn Dying?

the reason I mentioned the p. shrimp was because I had one finish off a sick frogspawn, it don't touch it when it was healthy, but soon as it got sick, it was ripping on it like Edward Scissor Hands.

    Cycling with nassarius snails

How tough are those little buggers? Since they feed off rotting debris on the beach and in tidal pools it would seem they can handle poor water quality? I was thinking they might help speed up the bacteria pop in the cycling tank, since they excrete pure uric acid into the sand along with...

    Looking to purchase T5 lighting

for that money, 8bulbs and 18" of water, who cares if the reflectors aren't primo, your corals will be getting PLENTY of light. My only grip would be it comes with 8 Current bulbs, which are fine, but when you swap them with ATI's, Guies, or GE's you'll really notice a difference. I would...

    Looking to purchase T5 lighting

you should be fine with 4 or 6 bulbs, if you have the money go with 6, not for intensity but so you can maximize your bulb combination, you'll be able to get a really nice color spectrum with 6x54w bulbs, that will make your corals grow and also give them a nice "pop" for aesthetics.

    Looking to purchase T5 lighting

how deep is the 75? I would go with mid range fixture w/o bulbs, then invest in good ATI bulbs. I'm running a lower range fixture, with high end bulb setup, which is plenty of light for my 40, but you might want better reflectors if your tank is deep.

FATTTTT scratches on my acrylic tank...

go to TAP plastic and get a WOOL buffing wheel for your power drill. Wet it, use a little and use Novus. When it starts smoking lay off, this makes short work of any scratch. Cheers, Josh
