Modification on acrylic tank while full.

Mike, Nice work. Was this the standard Tru Vu design? I've always wondered how much light all the acrylic takes away. Also, does your tank have one continuous piece for the vertical front and sides? Did you measure the deflection before and after? My 40 is 36"x15"16", so you think I could...

Well shoot, lets go nail some surf perch some day! All you need is a 6wt and orange crab flies :) You are right, DIY in reefing doesn't always mean saving money, I usually break even on the tools and supplies when all is done. But my point was DIY extends the hobby, rather than dropping $40...

OT: Need feedback on a laptops hardrive

haha, total geekfest. The memory stored in DRAM will be dependent on the reference HD, if the original HD is not present you can't cold boot. When you power down your laptop to remove the HD (before which you should remove the battery to protect the comp) the electro-decay in the DRAM will...

OT: Need feedback on a laptops hardrive

I agree, there is no stored memory in the RAM, other than the BIOS on the MB, flahisg that is risky, because if its incomplete or corrupted it could be impossible to rebuild the BIOs and you end up with a POSPW.

    Tank temp during cycle?

If I run my tank at 85-90* during the cycling will it help speed up the process? I remember reading that warmer tanks for QT speed up parasite life cycles, figured it would do the same for the probiotics too? Cheers, Josh

Do you get headache when playing 3D games??

do you get car sick easy? Like Mike said, if one eye is stronger or you have a left/right dominance issue your focal point will constantly bounce back and forth, causing headaches and nausea. I actually have a left/right dominance issue, so I have to make sure to train my vision straight...

I don't think that is necessarily true, I'm an avid fly fisherman and worked in a fly shop out east after the .com crash and 9/11 economic slump, fly fishing as a hobby parallels reef keeping, when people have extra money retail thrives, when it doesn't shops close down, the classic problem with...

no, I love that pic, everything blurred around it, with a gorgeous male in focus! Awesome! There is a cool photo like that at the Monterey Aquarium, a big bait ball of sardines all blurry, with a few in focus in the middle, kind of a predator eye view. you shoot a D60?

    Drilling holes in LR

So I planning to do my aquascaping by drilling holes and using 1/2 acrylic rod, both for the base support and connections. Can I just use a standard 1/2 drill bit or will the LR dull it quickly? If I remember right they make a hard bit for concrete, but they are pretty pricey. Any pointers...

    Nova T-5 Retrofit by Current

I just need a simple strip light for the refuge and it needs to be less than 24", the Nova are the only T5 I've found in the sub 24" range, all the Tek stuff seems to be primary lighting. I was thinking 9 watt (18") Freshwater 6700k SlimPaq to grow chaeto
