Cool fish at Cali Kids, had to exercise restraint.

Well, Stopped by Cali Kids today for some water. Cos got a shipment of fish in this week. Lots of cool fish. I had to exercise patience and restraint. I currently have 5 fish in my QT/isolation tank. It is not yet time to move them into the main display. Until then no more fish, but man...it was...

    Neptune Trident Help

Ok, I am the first to admit I am not tech savvy. Need some help from someone who is pretty good/familiar with this stuff. I find the app to be OK but programming something is not intuitive. I finally got around to setting up a Neptune Trident I bought used about 1.5 years ago (I know I know...

    Reminder, keep up on maintenance!

I knew I had to clean out my skimmer collection cup, but I have been busy this week. Kept putting it off until today. This is what I saw when I opened my cabinet.

    Fishotel Copperbanf Butterfly came in…

Well, I got my first order from Fishotel.com. It was supposed to be a QTed royal pencil wrasse. Unfortunately two days before shipping the wrasse got taken out by whatever fish he was in with. Happened after living together for four weeks. I was seriously bummed out. He got a copperband and...

I love it when a fish does its job.

I was watching my tank yesterday while doing some maintenance. My lawnmower blenny has a bulging belly. While I was watching I saw him go after some algae on the glass, the remnants of turf algae on the rocks, and some random stuff on my large turbo snails. This guy has been one of the best...

    Ratio of two part consumption?

Hello, Just curious…for those of you who use B-Ionic two part (or other two part) what is your ratio of Alk to Ca consumption? Currently I am at Kh-30ml/day and Ca-45ml/day to maintain my Alk at 8.2 and Ca at 420. Just wondering how this compares. Mixed reef: SPS, LPS, and a few zoas. Gerry

Review of my experience with Inverted Reef

Hello, Just wanted to post a quick review of my experience with inverted reef. I needed to freshen up my CUC, but wanted to minimize the risk of adding pests or disease to my tank. This was my first time ordering with them. I placed my order with the plan to have them delivered the week after...

    Bangai Cardinal Breeding Experience Summary

Hello, For those of you who are interested in breeding bangai cardinals I wrote a summary of my experience below. It is pretty lengthy and detailed, and I may have missed remembered some of the information. But, it is an easier read than going through the other thread. Sorry for the length, but...

    How to install/use waterbox manifold?

Hello, I have never installed or used a manifold. The waterbox I purchased comes plumbed to use one and they include a manifold with it (see pic below). The one they include has the potential for two outlets. I am looking to set up a GFO reactor and potentially one for carbon. But I’m clueless...

Switching to ESV from All for Reef

Well, Finally decided to switch over from All For Reef to ESV two part. I liked the convenience of All For Reed having it all in one container and I liked not having to worry about salinity. The problem I ran into was that it would precipitate in the tubing and eventually cause a plug. Just...

Have any of you raised brine shrimp? Need advice…

Well, As the title says I’m looking for brine shrimp advice. I have been wanting to hatch and raise them but have had very little success. I can hatch them pretty easily. Whenever I add any kind of food no matter how little the shrimp die off within hours. I have found several sources online...

    Bangai’s bred in my tank!

Well, Hopefully we are able to raise these guys. My son has been wanting to breed some sort of fish for a while. I got these Bangai’s about a year ago. Two paired up. Over the last few weeks we noticed the male’s mouth looked distended. My son got a pic where you can see the babies inside two...

    Thoughts on sponges?

    Fuge light options

Well, I was planning on adding a Kessil h80 to my fuge. Been sitting in a box for months. Unfortunately when I went to check out my apex bar the plug won’t fit where I was planning on using it. See pics below. The orientation for the prongs won’t fit the space between the other equipment I have...

All-for-reef vs 2 part vs Kalk?

Hello, Currently dosing All for Reef in my tank for about a year. I have no green thumb when it comes to growing corals but overall I feel like after a year I would have some better growth. I have added more flow. Lights are kessil AP9X. Par levels vary from 450 at the top to 224 at the bottom...

Just got this email today. Makes me wonder where they source them from? Only $4.5k. Should have invested in tangs years ago. They are doing better than gold. Hahaha.
