I have a small clam on a rock that I’d like to move to another location in the tank. I can’t move the rock. It’s being shaded by other coral. Any tips on getting it to release from the rock? I don’t want to injury it. Worst case I trim back the corals near it. Thanks

Well, I stopped being lazy and pulled out the wave box and pump. Impeller seemed to be frozen. A closer look revealed a tiny snail lodged in between the impeller and housing. I removed it and the pump fired right up! Guess I’ll be firing this back up and save myself $400

So stream 3 or Wavebox? Price is similar, so it's not an issue. If i have to keep buying a new Jebao every 6 months, it makes much more since to get the tunze with its 5 year warranty. My only real concern with the wave box is the fact that it will be basically underwater, since my water level...

I’m reviving this thread! So the Jebao just died. Worked well while it lasted…a whole 6 months! Anyways, I like the wave action in the tank. So do I buy another cheap pump or just buy once cry once and get a tunze wave box?

Mine just took a dump. Good thing I have dual return pumps. Anyone have a compatible power supply lying around? I’m calling simplicity in the morning to see if they will send me a replacement

Sorry for the loss of your fish and giving up the tank. I’ll gladly rescue them all and take the tank. I live in San Carlos, so easy pickup. I’m out of town til Wednesday night. I’m avail Thursday-Sunday to come get it all. If that works, just let me know.

I find that less intense light, adequate fertilizing, and more amano shrimp and snails work best

Keep it a manageable size and low tech, then it’s easy to maintain

Do you have the cabinets? Pre fab probably come in 30 or 36 wide. Might get lucky with a 33” in certain manufacturers. That would look the cleanest. 30” will have 2.5” filler panels on each side. And are you going to the ceiling or holding them back? Would you want crown moulding or similar?

Ok I couldn’t resist… I bought some sexy shrimp and a yashi goby pistol shrimp combo. Didn’t really think about how much sand the shrimp would move, but in such a small system, it’s a lot! Haha. Had to move some corals to new locations.

So sorry to hear what you’re dealing with. Been there. It’s miserable watching your fish get ick and or velvet. That helpless feeling sitting in your stomach. I had luck saving some of my fish with good water, strong UV and dosing peroxide. Good luck!

I second the Lifegard UVs. Mine has made a world of difference in my tank. They seem to be built to last, especially with all the replaceable wear parts as stated.

Which store would that be? I’ve seen them around $30 each. I’d gladly buy 5 if $10 each
