Buying Quarantined fish from Bay bridge

Glad to hear that! It can take months to cure if it's in the tank already, and in the "tomont" stage. That's like an egg/cyst. That doesn't stay on the fish. Keeping the water warmer speeds up the life cycle tremendously, too. When I QT a fish, it goes into a sterilized, bleached, clean tank...

Buying Quarantined fish from Bay bridge

This is the best way! Starting with a fish already having a low likelihood of disease and in good health, and then repeating a treatment and/or isolation process provides one additional layer of risk reduction and opportunity to break the life cycle of pathogens.

Buying Quarantined fish from Bay bridge

Hi everyone, For clarification: Yes, the QT that we do always includes drug treatment unconditionally on every single fish. Some people might choose to isolate only, and that is still a quarantine without treatment, and it still has its benefits; but generally in the industry "quarantined...

Buying Quarantined fish from Bay bridge

@bfirecat there shouldn't be any contamination, but that doesn't mean it can't happen, it's still a fish shop and hands can forget to be washed But there's every effort taken to avoid that. The quarantine room is on the separated and on the far opposite side of the building (Maybe 80ft away?)...

Hawaii has changed a lot with its fisheries export and strict new rules, as has the cost of pretty much everything. It's a difficult fish to catch since it's very deep, and takes a lot of the divers’ time with decompression stops. Shipping goes up every every year, too, unfortunately. To keep...

Sorry for having a wasted trip - we are definitely still doing orders all day long at the door, over the phone, etc. The staff were not aware yet that I was taking people inside after hours, since I just made that decision yesterday. Happy to text as many hundreds of pics as you want as well...

Hi everyone, sorry about that, I wasn't around at that time..I can take appointments after hours (after 530p) individually to take you inside to check them out. We're working on figuring out a way to maintain social distancing, yes we do have risks to employees and/or their families, and the...

Thanks everyone... we are actually *not* yet open for customers to come inside. In the best interest of our staff, (some of whom have immunocompromised family), and "human QT", we kept the doors closed since Shelter in Place started, except we have still been open daily with reduced hours doing...

Bay Bridge Aquarium - thumbs up or thumbs down?

A little bit, but not enough to matter. It still will be acidic so the ammonia won't be toxic and you're usually getting it done in a few minutes. When there's 30 bags like that, you'll test a few and they'll all be pretty close, and that's good enough to put all the fish together.

Bay Bridge Aquarium - thumbs up or thumbs down?

You probably don't ever have to deal with that unless you're getting the fish shipped, and it's been a long time in transit. This is more a concern on the collector to wholesaler side where the fish may really spend a loooooong time in transit. But, you would open it up and immediately use a...
