“Resetting” live rock

Ok -so I have a chunk of live rock that is pretty heavy on the yumas & shrooms. I am thinking of breaking it off (see pic-left side) -

Then turning it vertical and gluing it to some base and call it a day.

Other option is to nuke it and reset it but I’d rather keep the “bacteria” of the rock.

Can I simply throw it in a brute with some water, cover it, use a heater and use circulation pump for how many days???

Any input appreciated..

I’m confused on what you’re trying to do. Are you just trying to reposition the rock? Or kill all coral on the rock, but keeping it live with bacteria?

Option 2 -kill the coral, keep the bacteria -and then reposition the rock!

Meh…if you don’t want the shrooms. Just bleach it. If you don’t want the stark white looking rock from bleach, leave it out for a day or two.

Looks like you have sand in your tank. That piece of rock will have minimal impact to your tank in terms of bacteria.
