Fishy Business

20g Nano Mixed Reef

20g update

At CFM I got the following:
- Red Dragon acropora
- Tyree Pink Lemonade acropora
- Garf Bonsai acropora
- Small orange homophyllia
- Gold hammer colony
- Small tridacnid clam (t. maxima, I think)

Some nice coral from @popper too

Future Plans:
1) I need a Trident, I think. Alk rose to 13 without my noticing

2) I’d like some more acropora if the tank can handle it. Left rock looking a little bare

For you @derek_SR
I accidentally knocked into it and broke (and reglued) a branch, but here is the bill murray. A little irritate but still red

Nice! Garf bonsai is my favorite acro, hope
to get some one day

I spent so long messing with accurate colors in pictures that I forgot about full-blue. So I took some pictures today

This shrimp is getting old

Fish not doing too hot. Some fungal issue maybe? I'm giving her methylene blue baths for now.

Is it still a mixed reef if there's only stony corals? Alkalinity consumption ~5dkH daily now. This is kind of insane

Pithos crab doing amazing work. Plop her down on any patch of bryopsis, and it's scoured clean the next morning.

Yellow Neon goby (Elacatinus figaro) is much more confident now. It likes hanging around the hammers

Not sure if the money cowries are doing any cleaning, but they're really fuzzy and fun to see at night

A bit of CC Blazing Rainbow encrusting growth that I left alive has begun to sprout branches

Small patch of Sprung's Burning Bush has appeared after being apparently eradicated for nearly a year...

Super excited about immortal tort from @derek_SR. Fingers crossed it's as immortal as its name suggests. I've given it pride of place at the top of my rockwork.
It started off pretty pale, so I've been slowly working it up to full brightness. All in all I plan for it to end up at around 450-500 PPFD

The immortal tort is definitely tough. Mine died halfway after getting stung while I was on vacation, got covered in cyano and hair algae, but still ended up recovering and growing branches really fast.

Keep an eye on the money cowries. When they find a place they like to lay eggs, they can get pretty aggressive with flipping things nearby like clams.

Do you have a picture of your immortal tort colony?

Duly noted about the cowries.
