Our mission

3.5 gal BTA tank

Starting this to share the build. It’s also a convenient way to track the progress on my tank. I started this 3.5 gal display in March. After my other tank has gone so well I figured I should try throwing all the rules out and see what would happen. I also used as much equipment on hand as possible.

Equipment:
3.5 gal display (repurposed from freshwater set up)
Fluval 207 canister filter
-1/2 sponges taken out
-2 packets ChemiPure Blue Nano
-filter floss
-crushed coral
25w heater w/Inkbird (new)
Nicrew reef light (new)

Stocking:
1 green bta
1 rbta
2 rainbow btas
1 detritus snail

My thought with the canister filter was to increase total volume for added stability. I plan on keeping stocking light so I removed some sponge filtration & threw in crushed coral to help cycle.

After 3 weeks of every other day 50% water changes, the nems seem to be chilling out.

10/10 impressed with $60 Nicrew light that I’m running at 1/2 power and measuring ~275 Par at the bottom of the tank (yeah it’s a small tank but still mighty light!)
