Advice on a PH monitor

Hi all,

My (not so) trusty PH pen died and I was not so happy with it. I'd like to try monitoring PH in a different way. I'm looking at an American Marine Pinpoint PH monitor but would appreciate hearing about your experience or ideas. What do you think?

Thanks,

Charles

Do you plan on measuring ORP either at any point? I know Milwaukee makes a fairly decently priced ORP/Ph combo meter, they also make a Ph stand alone as well if memory serves.

The American Marine Pinpoint ones can be run via a battery as well as an AC adapter. I use the Milwaukee ph monitor and use the ORP controller and am satisfied with both of them. There is an ebay reseller that sells both at reasonable prices less than other major online retailers are selling them.

Thanks for the tips.

I had not planned to test ORP, so I did a little more research. Based on Wetwebmedia and Randy, it is usefull but not necessary. However, it does sound like a worthwhile tool for tuning a tank (which I need to do) and should be measured continuosly if at all. Anyone have any comments on how measuring ORP has improved their reefkeeping?

BTW, thanks for the ebay tip. Milwaukee does have a PH only and the PH/ORP and the ebay prices are cheaper than other online vendors.
