Advise on silicone on IM tank

Hi

I have a friend that is acquiring an innovative marine tank. It’s about one year old. Concern is that the front silicon been touched by scraper blades. Note that the tank is euro braced.

Is it a buy or pass?

I’d personally pass. As someone who has had water on their floor, even 10 gallons is huge. Not sure how big this tank is but IMO, not worth the stress. What model is it?

It’s a 112INT. Some are minor and IM has good reputation. But I wanted to head what you guys thought. I have some videos but I can’t figure out how to attach them.

No expert but some portions from what i can see don't look bad, but a few points look very bad gives me concern. It will fail at the weakest point. Nothing I would risk unless this was in a garage with cement floors. Definitely not in my house

Can you point the bad signs you seen? Not sure which once you talking about

Looking at the zoom in shoot of the tank. Some areas the black silicone is barely nicked, others it almost seems it's all the way into the corner.

My 65 came used and has similar wear on just the edges of the silicone where u can tell a scraper hit it. Nothing is nicked on mine that goes near the actual coner bead that holds things together.

It could be the light or a glare from glass, but i would be concerned on a few points i saw. Only going by the picture.

It looks different in person i'm sure, but not expert as mentioned above.

I think it’s the lighting. Pretty sure those are the same parts I pointed out to him over text. The seller sent him another video that Ayman shared with me via text and it didn’t look bad. Definitely would have to look over them in person though

I agree, just going off the picture i would pass unless I could see it in person as it will look different and you csn see different angles. Also depends on asking price verse risk assement. Many factors that could sway my choice.

Is it cheap $2-300 maybe worth the gamble, 500 or more a lot more on the line.

I rarely buy new things so i fully understand the assement process.

Yeah off the picture, I had told him to pass. Doesn’t look bad on video. But angle/lighting plays a big part. I wouldn’t commit to anything without seeing it in person first. I told him I’d go with him to check it out and give a second opinion.

Yeah, I’d say it depends on the price, and your end goal. My tank that I just acquired had the seams really beat up, didnt want to risk busting a seam, but also didnt want to re do all of the seams. So I just put a fat bead of silicone over all of the seams. Doesnt look great, but the tank was free. It also doesnt look terrible, you have to get up close to notice it

I’ve seen that tank in person and it’s super clean! White APS stand that makes it even cleaner looking. I’d have no reservations about putting inside my house. It’s going to sell in a heart beat on FB if your friend passes on it. I know a stealll when I see one lol.
@Ayman I think it’s definitely a go. In the video he sent Ayman it looks a lot better than the pictures show because the angles/lighting. Definitely is a really good deal. If Ayman or his friend don’t buy it, I might have to haha

Lmao there would be zero discussion if it was a redsea. To the point it would be a heck no if there was a finding nemo sticker stuck somewhere on the glass (not perfect).

I'm more confident hearing that salty has already seen it in person and would be willing to put it in his house. Also having a better video of it that shows more than still photos. Used is always a gamble but feels less risky considering that. Than marco going along for the 2nd opinion I'd go there with cash in hand. Im makes sleek looking tanks from all the ones i've seen.
