Dear members -- wanted to share some slow progress in my battle with green hair algae.
I have a 30 L Innovative Marine
My tank is 4 years old.
I've always had green hair algae issue for the better part of the 4 years. First 6 months were the best with very little to no algae. The worst was last year back when I was on a vacation and left the tank on auto pilot for 4 weeks.
But now, suddenly I'm seeing lot more Coraline on the rocks and algae never grows on them. The green star polyps growing at the back and on some rocks has also stopped algae from taking root.
As it's in this hobby there is never a dull moment
My new issue is:
Coraline algae on the glass. I'm a lazy reefkeeper -- rarely touch my tank except for water changes every month. Now every week I see a thick residue of Coraline growing on my glass and I have to keep scrubbing it.
It's not too bad, just have to use the magnetic scrubber!
Another observation: I have 2 varieties of GSP and it's interesting to see that they keep each under control compared to having just one type!
