Guess our corals are just way too hot and irresistible because today, we just had another theft!

A bit of background of what you’re about to see. The gentleman came in, pretended he wanted to buy a show-size colony of Rainbow Acan (retail value of $650), an Aussie Scoly (retail value of $300), and two Aquacultured Maxima Clams (retail value of $64.99/each) and so that’s what we bagged and put in the box. We then brought the box to the check-out counter to check him out and right before then he asked us to bag another piece. As we proceeded to do so, he then grab the box that we left un-attended and made a mad rush for the door. Take a look at the full drama unfolding in front of you on the following U-tube footages…..

The culprit stole in total over $1,000.

The thief was caught driving a BLUE TOYOTA FOUR RUNNER. If you know any other info that will lead us to the successful arrest of this individual, we’ll give you $250 in store credit.

If anyone thinks this is just another “marketing scam” ….it’s not. This is a real individual committing a real felony (Milpitas Police Dept. case #10-016-067) and he WILL be prosecuted to the fullest extend of the law!

You guys should post big "SMILE! You're on camera" signs all over the store if you haven't already...

Wow man, really sorry about that. Any chance you could rig up a camera to watch outside the place and maybe catch a frame of lic. plates? Also, you mind if I repost on RC Greater SF forums?
 
Damn! I hope you get him. I wonder if you can send the video to every club in CA. Someone got to know this guy, but I am guessing he is not from this area....he would be recognized if he ever went to another shop I think.

Thank you for posting these vids. It not only helps to discourage and catch these jerks, but it also helps the other LFSs in the area to be on the lookout.

Nice video. But I'm sure that you don't need anymore tax write-offs. To catch him, it might take people in the US community watching and reporting if they see him. RC should post this. It would be an even larger shame if he was too ingorant to keep the corals alive.
 
I am really sorry to learn that this jerk stole such valuable organisms from your store. I hope he is apprehended and prosecuted. The most disturbing thing is that he probably doesn't even know how to take care of such corals and clams. Last weekend, I actually bought one of the aqua-cultured maxima clams from your store, paying the higher price than the wild-caught ones, to be a good reefing citizen. Then, a week later, this guy literally runs away with the remaining expensive aqua-cultured clams.

Sorry to hear Robert and Cerissa. Hope this guy gets caught. Such a shame to see this kind of crap happen to a business that takes care of their customers.
 
sorry to hear guys.....i just told my lady what happened and she thinks its probably someone that lives close enough to the bay area so that they know about you guys but far enough that they wouldn't come too often. Try contacting surrounding area LFS?
