Anyone know about GPS devices?

I am heading to Europe in a couple of weeks and am renting a car in Ireland. Was planning on renting a GPS device but at $33 a day, was thinking it might make sense just to buy one.

Bad idea?

Can anyone offer any advice on one to look at. Don't need anything special just one that will get me around well.

Pretty much every European customer of mine that rents an RV and brings a GPS brings a TomTom. I was told that a TomTom works better in Europe then a Garmin for example. It should work just fine there and you could always use it here as well. I have never seen any Europeans bring another brand GPS and I do see them on a daily base.

Thanks for the tip. Looks like the only place to get the European maps is through UK sites. Gotta love the pound to dollar conversion rate!
