Absolutely devastating... I remember thinking when I first saw that aquarium about the pressure generated on the seams from an 82' tall tank

So sad that it happened. Apparently it was glass, you would think it would be acrylic with the size of it. It also happened it night so imagine how worse it would be during the day with all the people walking around..

Sorry, it was acrylic. Reynolds made and installed it. IT had a failure some years back at the seam of the two tubes they glued together.
