I joined the reefing community in May of 2021 when a good friend moved to Seattle and provided me with fish, coral, live rock, and some equipment (no tank since his was builtin) to start my journey. When I was in elementary school, I mowed lawns for money and invested it all in fresh water tanks. I was always fascinated by salt water tanks but felt it was too expensive and too difficult for me. The hobby has come a long way since then and I am thankful to Jeff for encouraging me to dive in. I have thoroughly enjoyed my tank over the last 2 years and decided it is time to start a tank journal. Sorry that this will begin by looking in the rear view mirror. It will be good for me to remember back and it will also help others understand my tank as I become more active in the forum. I'll start with a picture of the tank today and then provide some historical pictures to explain the journey. I don't have the time to document the whole journey in one sitting so I will build it out over the next couple of weeks.

Here is my tank in May 2021 shortly after it was set up. Jeff didn't want to throw away any of his livestock or live rock so we "overfilled" my tank initially.

Two weeks after setting up my tank, my green mushroom corals began to spawn with blue eggs and clouds of sperm floating around the tank. Super cool! 2 years later, green mushroom corals cover 1/3 of the back wall of my tank. I believe they came from this spawning.

Great looking 525XL. I used to have that tank previously. I’ve always been a fan of bubble corals. Yours looks great!
