Bulk soda ash mixed brown

Well, per title I thought I’m saving money buying bulk. Looks like it’s a waste .

Supposed to be pure soda ash got from Amazon. Just mixed the first batch . Have not use in the tank, probably will not.

Going to stick to BRS or some other reef specific Alk additive.

I wouldn't be surprised if the brown is just impurities (I would never trust Amazon listing details as accurate) and you probably could just filter them out by pushing them through a sediment filter. But I'm a known cheap ass who isn't too afraid to do things to save a buck

You’re probably correct. The brown stuff settled and also coat the side of the jug.

Nope. Filter with paper coffee filter and it’s still brown. Going to bake arm and hammer baking soda . Seems easy enough.

Nope. Filter with paper coffee filter and it’s still brown. Going to bake arm and hammer baking soda . Seems easy enough.

Just something else to consider, i’ve read/watched videos that say arm and hammer is made in the same facility/equipment that processes other detergents/soaps/etc, so it can still have contaminants that you may not see as easily

Small amounts probably wont be a big deal, but it’s something I would think about for the future, long term use might be bad
