Bunch of coral dying

At first I though it was just that the nitrates bottomed out a month ago (and I got it back up fast) that couple corals suddenly died -but now about a month later I still have coral dying off -

Mostly sps-two acros RTN’ed this week.

So i have lost 4 acros, bird nest colony, another sps colony so far in 4 weeks. One of my euphylia is on its way out..

All the major nutrients seem to be in order. I’ll get an ICP test and see if it’s something else.

It is very distressing. Any insights appreciated..

What are your testing results specifically?

Maybe run some carbon if you can.

I partially second the carbon recommendation until you get your ICP back. However, if you are very high on light and very low on certain traces this could amplify the issue.

Can you backtrack all the recent changes you made and list here? Did you use GFO?

No GFO!

No recent changes..

Good idea on the carbon..
ICP will give me a clue on trace elements

No changes :)?

And animal additions, increase or decrease of dosing, change in food, light adjustments, etc?

(I am intentionally not mentioning bacterial infections since I am expecting that the meds recommendations will be coming soon :)).

Very distressing, sorry you’re dealing with that. The second I get a whiff of anything weird here’s my order of operations:

1. Check salinity, temp, alk. Po4, no3
2. Check salinity and temp again with different devices
4. Carbon
5. ICP
6. Hunt around at night with a flashlight
7. Check my journal for any clues/changes
8. Check all equipment
9. Nuke the DT with oxolinic acid
10. Start doing big water changes

I’ve never made it past step 9 - but I do 1% daily AWC so water changes usually aren’t the answer for me. If you aren’t doing AWC you probably want to move step 10 much higher on the list.

Good luck figuring it out.

Added a wrasse from high tide in January.
Had resumed carbon dosing I think in January or December.. I need to look.

Two coral added Jan from BAR gathering.
No change in food or lighting.

Thx for the list.
Will start from #1

A lot of people would start at #10, or at least simultaneously with checking parameters.

Please say more about #3
