Cabinet organization

My cabinet is a mess. Anyone have any pics for inspiration. I’ve been thinking of putting in a French cleat wall. That way I can move things around as needed. I don’t like drilling holes into the cabinet. Guess I’ll start with labeling everything first.

Haven't experimented with lead dosing myself ;) but I definitely recommend anything with cords not to go onto a removable board or the door since they get dragged all over. A lot of people use 3D printed mounts for controllers that you can use 3M command tape on if you didn't want to drill. But if the finish of the stand doesn't allow adhesives, then drilling for heavier stuff might have to happen.

Generally getting all electronics off the bottom is key to prevent a short after a leak.

took me a sec to figure out the lead dosing lol. i wouldn't put anything on the door, maybe a shelf for dry food. there's just so many plugs and bricks. im thinking of setting up a softie tank. i would have to add another apex energy bar. thats basically what is promoting the reorganizing of the cabinet

Haha I was wondering if anyone was going to spot that glock.

I don't like doing too much for cable management since most of it results in making maintenance and/or moving equipment a real pain in the ass - I leave all wires loose. It doesn't look great but it's actually pretty functional the way it's set up.

Most serious question: is that a bb gun or a real gun? If real, geez

Reefing related topic: I find the ikea skadis pegboards (or an equivalent) helpful. You can mount them to the wall, with minimal hole creation, and then mount things to that. My main focus would be getting it so that when you have a spill and somehow water gets in there, it's not frying all the electronics laying on the ground and/or creating a fire hazard.

yea, thats the goal. just to get things off the ground. i do plan on leaving the wires loose like @derek_SR said. so i can easily move things around. i'll check out that ikea peg board. i would rather not spend half the day cutting French cleats

i'd put my shot gun in there if it fit

I think you made up this reason to convince yourself not to do cable management lol

I use Panduit J hooks in my stand for cable runs and keeping things tidier. At one time I used those enclosed wire channels but they were a pain in the ass whenever I needed to remove or add anything, and I'm a tinkerer.

You can find them on eBay used sometimes for far less than new

This is pretty sweet and reminded me of how I like to use Velcro wraps instead of cable ties for easy disconnection.

Cable management box Or just get a plastic box, cut hole in lid and put everything in it. Get a wide flat one and stand it on its side to clear more ground space.

I liked the concept of my cabinet in SV, clean front board with controllers, on a hinge to expose wired behind. All away from the tank.

My first thought is always mount a piece of plywood to the wall, then you can screw into it anywhere.

I'm still waiting for a better way to do this. Because of the apparent dichotomy of organized cable vs. practicability, it seems impossible to solv e unless it is a somewhat modular setup.

I cannot offer any good practices except the cable wrap someone recommended here, which I really like, and two other pictures of my cables which hopefully make you feel better about your setup :).
