Cabinet organization

defiantly going to put some plywood inside. just cant decide if i want to spend the time cutting out the french cleats

I would at least mount or move that XP8 so the outlets aren't on the floor facing directly upward towards water and splashes. That pic gives me the yikes.
 
I don't know if this is the best (as far as safety) but I put all my big power blocks (idk what hey are called) in a marine box to help get them out of the way. I made sure to label all my cords which definitely helped! It also helped that I have a wooden base and was able to screw my power strips to the tank which helped and made it easy if I needed to disconnect something easily!

I do have this empty space here. I could just build a shallow cabinet against the wall. then use the cabinet under the tank to house the dosing stuff. then that would separate the electrical from any liquids

I would look at what cabinets fit in that area and throw everything inside with a big hole out the left for the cables.
 
I have a spare g1 525 cabinet. I think I will use that and make it to the exact specs I want. I have plans for a wood working table that I’ve been wanting to make. Now’s the time. That way the cabinet will match with the tank cabinet, and im basically forced to make the wood working table.

That is a fantastic miter saw! Nice choice, unless you don't like it that is. Lol

I am in the same boat with wire management. And I honestly have to say that @derek_SR 's philosophy isn't too far off base. When I need to move something or pull something out for maintenance, it is so easy to not have to undo a bunch of stuff. It just looks terrible. I've been tempted to try wire wraps, but I mostly just use velcro straps to keep things grouped together as best I can.

Miter saw is great. Had it for a few years now. No problems.
The first time I set up my tank everything was neatl. Wires all had Velcro every couple feet. Then minus to change out a heater and it was such a pain. I think the j hooks are the way to go. Everything loose but still together.
 
On Amazon there are lots of options for “cable clips” that attach with adhesive and can hold wires but are easy to open as needed. Various sizes, shapes. I like the ones that are a C-shape so they hold the wires, with optional clip closed on top.
