Get some frag plate tiles or larger disks place them directly on the top of the montipora. Give it 2 weeks and lack of light will kill it. A few peices if rock would do same thing. Once dead it would likely be way more brittle and easier to remove.

If u drain the tank under the overflows and get a pack of those green and yellow dish scrubber things might work with tank water of course no soap lol. Use light hand pressure and swap sponges when they aren't abrasive any more. Just my thoughts.

Whats encrusting it?

A lil’ bit of everything - coralline, algaes… I can’t seem to remove it with a stiff brush anymore.

My gsp also glued my grate in place. I just cut thru it. If not, you can just clear the weir while it’s in place with any flat hard plastic that fits in the between the weir teeth. Btw, tank coral growth looks faaabuuuulous

Hmm maybe I’ll try carving it out. I’m afraid to break the old plastic grate.
