Cleaning filter socks?

Yep, mesh is the way to go. So much easier to clean. You can hose it off pretty clean without using bleach but I use bleach to keep em purdy.

I wash mine with unscented bleach in the washing machine around 4am (gotta make sure shes sleeping) every couple of weeks when i get home from a swing shift..

then let air dry for a couple days..

So are the mesh ones a bigger micron size or what? I use the 200 micron felt and use washing machine. Usually a little bleach with extra rinse, comes out pretty good without bleach too

Yea, does anyone have any links to the mesh socks?

I only put mine on when I'm doing water changes - and that's for about a day after the change. I found if I ran them all the time I would have a huge reduction in pod population.

Yup, I purchased mine from BRS. They had a sale last month for filter socks so I took advantage of the deal. The micron size is the same but it's thinner than felt and doesn't clog or gunk as fast as the felt. So much easier to clean.

filter socks are typically measured in micron size, mesh or felt, the size range people use is the same. 100, 200 and 250
