High Tide Aquatics

Colossal squid filmed in deep ocean for the first time ever

Just get it as a baby and plan to rehome as it grows
or he can cook it. They are really tasty.

I don't know about tasty...not all squid are worth it.
Years ago, for some reason the Humbolt Squid decided to relocate up along the coast of California. Charter boats up and down the coast were targeting them and there was a concern they could wipe out a lot of native fish including salmon. There was no limit on them. I went out on one trip. Caught several squid, They ranged from 20 to 80 lbs and some were 6 feet long or so. Got some really nice thick calamari steaks. Those things were a pain to cook. If you just cooked them as is they had a strong ammonia flavor that was nasty, and they were also pretty tough. You had to soak them in milk overnight for 24hrs and the pound them to tenderize them prior to cooking. Just not worth it.

Dito!! Took my boat a few times off Monterey Bay for some squid.. Regardless of letting them ink out before popping them in the boat cooler ink still squrted all over the deck lol. Deck smelled like squid for months!! Simple green helped a bit sorta. Got tired of pounding so ran them through some pasta rollers then used holiday cookie cutters for festive looks ! They worked great in crab pots!

My kids use a massager gun to pound our steak. Also use it on ipad games that require repeated pressing of a button.
